ELCA Bishop wants TRansgender Students to Be allowed to use opposite sex showers and bathrooms2/25/2016 The South Dakota state legislature recently passed a bill that “require(s) public-school students to use facilities that match their biological sex, according to the Washington Times.” “…Under the bill, 'every restroom, locker room, and shower room located in a public elementary or secondary school that is designated for student use and is accessible by multiple students at the same time shall be designated for and used only by students of the same biological sex.'" (read here) The governor has yet to sign the bill. ELCA South Dakota synod bishop, David Zellmer, does not like this bill and he took to social media to lobby for its defeat saying, “I have contacted South Dakota Governor Dennis Daugaard and urged him to veto HB 1008 – legislation that would prevent transgender students in public schools from using restrooms and other facilities consistent with their gender identity.” (see here) The South Dakota Synod, ELCA posted their bishop's message and it received overwhelming approval with 200+ "likes" and over 200 "shares." (see below) What kind of evil and craziness is this, that people actually want to place males in the showers and bathrooms of public school girls? "My people are fools; they do not know me. They are senseless children; they have no understanding. They are skilled in doing evil; they know not how to do good." Jeremiah 4:22 Thank God for Franklin Graham, a watchman on the wall, who said, “This week the South Dakota state legislature passed a bill that requires students in public schools to use the bathroom, shower, and locker room that correspond to their biological sex. Who would’ve thought just a couple of years ago that a law would be needed to enforce something as basic as this? I think it’s a wise step of protection and applaud the state legislature for their boldness. Gay and transgender rights activists are already threatening that this could put the schools at risk of lawsuits. We’re not surprised are we?” (see here)

Recently I read an article by a liberal Lutheran pastor entitled "11 Reasons I Am Proud to Pastor in the ELCA". Permit me to do the opposite. Here are 11 reasons everyone should leave the ELCA. 1. The ELCA pays for abortion for any reason in its health care plan – which is funded by offering dollars. 2. The ELCA's health care plan has recently decided to pay for sex change operations. 3. The ELCA has a hard time referring to God as "He" and references to God the Father are rare. The ELCA's hymnal has removed all masculine references to God in the Psalms. The ELCA's "The Lutheran" magazine also avoids masculine pronouns for God. 4. The ELCA allows for the worship of "the goddess" and pagan deities like Asherah at an ELCA congregation called Herchurch (check out the false teaching for yourself at herchurch.org). When people have shared concern about this congregation, the ELCA has defended Herchurch instead of disciplining it. 5. The heresy of universalism, which teaches that all people will be saved regardless of faith in Christ, is being taught at ELCA seminaries. The ELCA's "The Lutheran" magazine also has articles promoting universalism. This is done even though the ELCA's founding documents teach that we are saved by grace alone through faith in Christ alone. 6. The number of ELCA missionaries has been reduced dramatically since the ELCA's founding in 1988. If universalism is true, why send out missionaries? 7. Some ELCA pastors, like the popular ELCA speaker Nadia Bolz–Weber, deny the substitutionary atonement of Christ, which teaches that Jesus died on the cross in our place to pay for our sins. This central Christian teaching is rejected as "divine child abuse" by some in the ELCA. 8. The ELCA ordains practicing homosexuals as pastors. The ELCA now has a male bishop with a "husband" who rode in a gay pride parade in California. 9. The ELCA recently has ordained transgender pastors. 10. Basic Christian teachings like the Virgin Birth of Christ are denied by many seminary professors in the ELCA. 11. The ELCA regularly advocates for liberal political causes, but does little to nothing to advocate for the unborn. This is understandable since the ELCA pays for abortions with offering dollars. Need a good alternative to the ELCA? The Missouri Synod Lutheran Church, the Association of Free Lutheran Congregations, Lutheran Churches in Mission for Christ (LCMC), the Church of the Lutheran Brethren, the Wisconsin Synod Lutheran church, and the Association of America Lutheran Churches are all options which provide good Biblical teaching for those seeking to live out their Christian faith. In Jesus our Savior, Pastor Tom Brock Pastorsstudy.org Ebenezer Lutheran Church in San Francisco, better known as "herchurch," is a goddess worshiping church that is operating in good standing and with the full knowledge of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). The ELCA has placed their stamp of approval on the worship of false gods by their knowledgeable allowance of it. Here is what herchurch has been up to lately. What is better for Christmas than a prayer to the goddess Sophia, posted on their church Facebook page? - Next month herchurch will be offering an opportunity to partake in the Spring Equinox Women’s Ritual called "Animal Medicine." Herchurch describes this three-hour ritual saying, "In the silence of the quiet mind, we create the sacred fertility in which we receive the messages of Spirit. The Equinox is a time to honor and balance polarities – female/male, dark/light, body/spirit, below/above. Through the Earth and Sky Animal Medicine Spread, each participant will connect with specific aspects of animal spirit guides to interweave her own polarities and create greater balance within, and in the world as a whole." (see here or view screenshot below) Asking ELCA members to connect with "animal spirit guides" is really an invitation to connect with demonic spirits. Leviticus 19:31 says "You are to consult neither mediums nor familiar spirits. You are never to seek them—you'll just be defiled by them. I am the LORD your God." And God's Word tells us in 1 John 4:1 “Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.” What are the leaders of this church and the ELCA doing, allowing this kind of evil in the denomination? How about another prayer? This time to a creepy looking Irish goddess. Here are a couple of excerpts from the herchurch Facebook post: And Finally, herchurch has a list of books on the church website that they offer as "Recommended Reading." Here are a number of them: Rebirth of the Goddess by Carol P. Christ. Living in the Lap of the Goddess by Cynthia Eller She Who Changes, Re-Imagining the Divine in the World by Carol Christ The Alphabet Versus the Goddess by Leonard Shlain Mary Magdalene – Beyond the Myth by Esther De Boer The Creation of Feminist Consciousness by Gerde Lerna Return of the Great Goddess by Burleigh Muten The Heart of Christianity by Marcus J. Borg When God Was A Woman by Merlin Stone Saving Jesus From Those Who Are Right by Carter Heyward In Search of the Christa-Sophia by Jann Aldredge-Clanton This is crazy stuff. Exposing the ELCA has been documenting for years that the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America's leadership does not believe the Creation account God placed in Scripture. (read about 1500+ ELCA leaders signing a letter in support of evolution here. Also scroll down the page here to find a bunch of ELCA evolution related information) Let me give you another example from the ELCA's official magazine, The Lutheran - “It’s hard to believe that any ancient writer would have penned the Genesis story for the sake of recording good science. If that was the author’s intent, he (or they) failed miserably. The early chapters of Genesis make for lousy empirical science. Not that this has kept numbers of Christians from trying to cram every dinosaur jawbone, distant galaxy and Grand Canyon formation into the span of the last 6,000 years. The Genesis story was never meant to tell us how the world was created. It is rather a masterful treatise for informing us who created this floating orb in its magnificent universe. From the story, we learn that God appreciates beauty, design and order over ugliness, nonsense and chaos. One doesn’t have to tread far into Scripture before discovering that humans were created for relationship with God and one another. These convictions of faith are hardly at the heart of scientific inquiry.” (see here) The ELCA is trying to discredit the historical account of Genesis in this paragraph because they have decided that God did not, as He said, create the universe in six 24 hour days. And that brings us to Evolution Weekend! (February 12 - 14, 2016) The pro-evolution website, "The Clergy Letter Project," which organizes this event says, "Evolution Weekend is an opportunity for serious discussion and reflection on the relationship between religion and science." “Religious people from many diverse faith traditions and locations around the world understand that evolution is quite simply sound science.” Of course there are ELCA churches participating. They participate "through sermons, discussion groups, meaningful conversations and seminars..." conducted by each individual church.

Today in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America’s “Prayers of the Church”, this prayer was made: “Make your church a prophetic voice for the voiceless…” I thought of the voiceless cries of over 3,000 unborn children who die daily in American abortion clinics. To my knowledge, the ELCA has never had a prayer for unborn children. Perhaps this is because the ELCA pays for abortion for any reason in its healthcare plan—which is funded by offering dollars. That’s right, your offering dollars can be used to pay for elective abortions. Way back in 1996 when I was an ELCA pastor I sent letters to all 11,000 ELCA congregations upon discovering the ELCA pays for elective abortions. Sadly, the ELCA bishops sided with the current (and still current) policy of paying for abortion for any reason, including sex selection. The issue came before the 1997 ELCA assembly. It was proposed that the ELCA limit abortion payments to rape, incest and fetal anomaly incompatible with life. For some of us, these exceptions are not valid reasons for abortion, but it was hoped that this compromise would pass and limit the vast number of reasons that the ELCA would pay for abortion. We lost. Two-thirds of the assembly voted to continue to pay for abortion for any reason, and no reason, in its healthcare plan. As one pastor said back then “Real churches don’t kill babies.” But the ELCA does. Back in those days I received a letter, I believe from a pastor’s wife, who said she was so glad the ELCA “was there” to pay for her 16-year-old daughter’s abortion. So is it any wonder that the ELCA never prays for unborn children? And again this week the ELCA offered an environmental prayer: “Guard all creatures that fly, swim, creep, and walk upon the earth. Defend and preserve threatened lands and waters.” But again, no prayer that God would bring lost human beings to saving faith in Christ. No prayer that God would guard the unborn. But they can pray for the environment. Sincerely in Christ, Pastor Tom Brock pastorsstudy.org
The ELCA is a homosexual and transsexual-affirming denomination. The ELCA ordains practicing homosexuals as well as people who call themselves transsexuals. It's one thing to love all people, but it's another to affirm, celebrate and elevate their sinful decisions. Sadly the ELCA enthusiastically hails their approval of these sinful lifestyles. Those who have been paying attention know this to be true, but many ELCA members insulate themselves within their ELCA churches and ignore the LGBT clamoring made by the denomination. For those people, Exposing the ELCA continues to provide material evidence in hopes their eyes will be opened to see how far the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America has fallen.
Here is a video showing dozens of ELCA congregations proclaiming their support for the homosexual lifestyle: 2016 Reconciling in Christ Sunday Then we have an ELCA bishop "celebrating" a LGBT-approving church, posted on the ELCA synod Facebook page: Posted by Sierra Pacific Synod - ELCA on Monday, November 9, 2015 Next an ELCA synod posting on Facebook an article of an ELCA pastor speaking in support of a LGBT rights bill: Finally, a workshop at Luther Seminary in the Twin Cities, an ELCA school: |
