Here are excerpts from the below video of the Southeastern Pennsylvania Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America: "To my LGBTQIA+ siblings...you are who you were created you to be...Our creator is not one gender but God is at the same time full of gender and also beyond gender...The Church told lies about who and what was acceptable in God's sight. We as the Church have killed and wounded our LGBTQIA+ siblings by...declaring bodies sinful that God has called good...I am deeply sorry...Church...we must repent...". The video ends with the prayer "May we follow the Spirit's lead and work for justice and equity for our LGBTQIA+...siblings".
Very disturbing is the claim by some in the Church today that the Holy Spirit is leading the Church to affirm homosexuality and transgenderism. This is close to blaspheming the Holy Spirit who inspired the Bible's teaching on homosexuality (see my article "What does the Bible teach about homosexuality?" at pastorsstudy.org). Sadly, this pro-LGBT teaching has also invaded the United Church of Christ, the Episcopal Church in America, the Presbyterian Church USA, the United Methodist Church and the Disciples of Christ. Should biological males be placed in female homeless shelters? The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America is rallying their faithful to advocate:
"The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has proposed a new rule that could decrease shelter access and increase the risk of homelessness for transgender and non-binary people in our communities...HUD’s proposed change would weaken existing protections under the 2016 issued 'Equal Access Rule,' allowing sex-segregated shelters to consider someone’s biological sex — rather than their self-identification — in making placement choices and how they accommodate people seeking shelter. Currently, the unrevised Equal Access Rule requires housing and shelter facilities to ensure equal access to benefits, services and accommodation for individuals based on their gender identity without intrusive and harmful questioning or government ID requirements." The ELCA then asks its readers to send a form letter, provided by the ELCA, to the U.S. government advocating for no change to the current rule. (See here)
In a sermon given on July 12, 2020, Rev. Mark Knutson, a pastor in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), makes an egregious statement:
“…how can you preach about joy when the administration of this land is so out of touch? How can you preach about joy when a president is a racist and white supremacist…” (see video here starting at 36:25) It shouldn't surprise us that a radical, Bible-twisting denomination like the ELCA has pastors who call our president a racist and white supremacist, but it is certainly disturbing, none-the-less. Rev. Knutson continued on by saying the president “goes after Bubba Wallace...”, a black NASCAR driver who made news last month with the what-proved-to-be false claim that someone put a noose in his NASCAR garage. Pastor Mark Knutson then repeats that false claim, that someone placed a noose in Wallace's garage stall, despite it having been proven to be false, weeks ago. This same pastor made news recently for prominently applauding speakers at a highly controversial rally, according to Gateway Pundit news site. See here and here. According to the article, one rally speaker called for the abolition of the United States and another advocated for violent protests. If you are a part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, you need to know that your money supports radical pastors and policies and extremely liberal political viewpoints. ELCA pastor W. J. Mark Knutson was also the subject of this post and article:

Some in liberal, mainline Protestant denominations have begun calling the Holy Spirit “she“, though there is no biblical warrant for it. Watch the very brief video below of a female pastor of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, who is “married” to a woman, call the Holy Spirit “she“. It is also common among liberals in mainline denominations to claim the Holy Spirit blesses homosexual behavior and desires the Church to affirm the LGBTQAI+ movement. But the Holy Spirit never contradicts the Scriptures which he himself inspired (2 Timothy 3:16). For all the Bible verses about homosexuality, see my article “What does the Bible say about homosexuality?” at Pastorsstudy.org. Lutheran Pastor Tom Brock addressed the situation saying: "Here is drag queen story time for your children, presented by the Metropolitan New York Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. I am not making this up. This is not a satire. Here is drag queen story time for your children courtesy of the Metropolitan New York Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America." "Claire Burkat, retired ELCA bishop of the Southeastern Pennsylvania Synod, wrote of the drag queen story time books: 'Three books I will buy for the little ones I love:)'" (Read Rev. Brock here) The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America has a mission to indoctrinate their membership, including children, with their ultra-liberal, Bible-rejecting beliefs. How can anyone who fears God and believes His Word stay in this vile denomination that is teaching evil, in many forms, to people under their care? (The following article is from Rev. As the liberal Evangelical Lutheran Church in America shrinks in membership and donations, so do its seminaries. Two ELCA seminaries in Pennsylvania had to merge, Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota had to sell off some of its buildings and in 2017 the building of the ELCA seminary in California was sold to a Muslim College. The President of California Lutheran University (which owned the California seminary property) was delighted to sell to the Muslim college: "We are delighted that the property is going to another nonprofit, faith-based educational institution". The President of the Muslim College stated "We are humbled and honored by this beautiful display of interreligious cooperation." This past summer the ELCA in convention passed an interreligious resolution stating that we do not know what God thinks of non-Christian religions. A delegate tried to amend that, stating that the Bible teaches Jesus is the only way of salvation (John 14:6). His amendment was voted down by 97 percent. We should grieve that a once Christian seminary building is now being used to promote Islam, but instead the President of the ELCA's California Lutheran University is "delighted". Such is the new world of ELCA interreligious cooperation. I have written many posts about how radical my alma mater Luther Seminary has become with its chapel services featuring transgender preachers, "God the Mother" worship, Native American "Great Spirit" worship, and the commemoration of National Coming Out Day and Transgender Week of Remembrance. I cannot help but think of the Bible's teaching "You reap what you sow." For years the ELCA has sown arrogance and rebellion against the Scriptures, and slowly but surely the ELCA has reaped its own decline. Sincerely in Christ, Pastor Tom Brock
Ken Ham, founder and CEO of Creation in Genesis, the Creation Museum and the Ark Encounter, is a well known defender of God's Word and Christian speaker.
Ken Ham has spoken about the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America's departure from Biblical Truth in the past and this week he addressed it further on Facebook and Twitter when sharing an article titled "Evangelical Lutheran Church in America Distributes Handbook on Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity." ===================================
In an ugly display of anti-Semitism, the ELCA, which continually demonizes Israel, came out with a series of articles and news releases against Israel for what the ELCA views as the annexation of Palestinian land. The ELCA writes that they want "liberation not annexation." In truth, Israel is "extend(ing) its rightful sovereignty over Judea and Samaria." (Quote from here)
But the ELCA showed their anti-Semitic cards, in plain sight, when in a news article the ELCA tried to point to Israel as a reason George Floyd died: "The Rev. Rafael Malpica Padilla, executive director of ELCA Global Mission, said that one should be aware of the connection between the Israeli government’s repressive tactics against Palestinians and those taking place against people of color in a number of localities around the United States. 'As it has been reported, the kind of police tactics used to kill George Floyd are among those taught to a number of police departments that have taken part in training by Israeli police and military forces,” Malpica Padilla said. “For example, 100 Minneapolis police officers received counterterrorism training from Israelis at a conference held in 2012.'” (Read here) It is disgusting that the ELCA is trying to capitalize on the wrongful death of George Floyd and the anger this has generated, to try to infuriate people against the only Jewish country. How can anyone stay, support and pay the salaries of people who would do such a thing? Read more about the ELCA's demonization of Israel here. Kathryn Mary Lohre, Assistant to the Presiding Bishop of the ELCA and Executive for Ecumenical and Inter-Religious Relations & Theological Discernment, writes on the ELCA website about this action of Israel, calling Israel racist toward "Palestinians." She also tries to connect George Floyd and racism in America to what is happening with Israel toward "Palestinians" in a biased advocacy letter, she says: "The racism that has kneeled on the necks of Black Americans for 400 years is part of the same global pandemic as the racism that has been kneeling on the necks of Palestinians for 53 years of military occupation, and that has been even more suffocating under Israel’s nation state law, adopted in 2018." (See here) ELCA's top bishop Elizabeth Eaton is so passionate about advocating against Israel that she took to her official Twitter account to display more of her biased understanding of the Israeli situation: — Bishop Eaton (@ELCABishopEaton) June 29, 2020 |
