ELCA Bishop, the Rev. Robert Rimbo of the Metropolitan New York Synod signed a statement which says, “We, the undersigned, urge the New York State Legislature to protect families in New York State by extending marriage to same-sex couples.” (see here)

The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America likes to tout how “welcoming” they are. Apparently “welcoming” people is more important than being obedient to God. Read below about an ELCA church which allows people of a different religion, who worship a different god, to use their church facilities to do so. I can’t imagine, or see Biblical justification, that God would be pleased by this.

It is evident that liberal progressives, with a very low view of Scripture, completely control the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. The views of God-fearing, followers of God’s Word are not welcome. I have to ask; do you stay where you are not welcome or where your “bound conscience” is not valued or honored? More importantly, should you entrust your spiritual growth and teaching to people who defiantly stand against God’s Word? WordAlone Ministries, a stalwart in calling the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America back to its Biblical and Confessional roots, has decided to halt its ministry due to financial reasons. For twelve-plus years WordAlone has faithfully carried out God’s calling. Undoubtedly, their work lives on, as WordAlone has been instrumental in the forming of the LCMC, LutheranCORE and Sola Publishing.
Exposing the ELCA is saddened to see WordAlone Ministries close its doors, but we praise God for the work He has done through this faithful organization. Please keep the WordAlone leadership and staff in your prayers as they seek His direction for what is next in their lives. Read WordAlone Ministries Announcement here. Over 500 churches have left the ELCA over the last two years. With this in mind, Exposing the ELCA invited some congregations who have left the denomination to share their story, their experience, their journey.
Here is the first, of what we hope to be many, stories posted. St. Paul Lutheran Church’s “Journey into the Light.” Read here. If you had any questions as to whether the ELCA is a liberal, progressive Church following the world's ways and turning from orthodoxy and Biblical truth, check out the following blog from "Lutherans Concerned."
The blog highlights the happenings and results of resolutions so far, from this years ELCA synod assemblies. See here. God's word tells us "You adulterous people, don’t you know that friendship with the world means enmity against God? Therefore, anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God." James 4:4 As you can see, the majority of ELCA Synod voters are passing their liberal, non-orthodox resolutions while voting down resolutions that are Biblical and traditional. (Lutherans Concerned / North America is an organization that "works for the full inclusion of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender Lutherans in all aspects of the life of their Church and congregations." See here.) The below resolution was defeated at the 2011 North/West Lower Michigan Synod Assembly. (reports are that the resolution lost by a vote of almost 2:1 )
RESOLUTION CONCERNING MARRIAGE Whereas, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) constitution clearly provides in Chapter 2, that the ELCA in all its expressions accepts “the canonical Scriptures of the Old and New Testament as the inspired Word of God and the authoritative source and norm of its proclamation, faith, and life” and the Unaltered Augsburg Confession and the other confessional writings in the Book of Concord, as valid interpretations of the faith of the Church; and Whereas, in both Scripture and the Unaltered Augsburg Confession the term marriage describes a publicly accountable, lifelong, relationship between a man and a woman; and Whereas, “Human Sexuality: Gift and Trust” A Social Statement of the Evangelical Lutheran Church (adopted August 19, 2009) states that “the historic Christian tradition and the Lutheran Confessions have recognized marriage as a covenant between a man and a woman, reflecting Mark 10: 6–9” and that there are those within the ELCA who conclude “that marriage is also the appropriate term to use in describing similar benefits, protection, and support for same-gender couples entering into lifelong, monogamous relationships”; therefore be it Resolved, that the North/West Lower Michigan Synod affirms that the term marriage only be used for publicly accountable, lifelong, monogamous, relationships between a man and a woman; and Resolved, that publicly accountable, lifelong, monogamous, same gender relationships will not be recognized as marriage by this Synod. Is it concerning that over 1500 ELCA leaders signed a letter saying they did not believe the Bible's account of creation, Adam and Eve, and Noah and the Ark? The results were: 88.01% (257 votes) said “Yes” 11.99% (35 votes) said “No” Total Votes: 292 Read about those 1500+ evolution believing, creation and Bible denying ELCA leaders here. The ELCA and its leaders love to push their liberal progressive political policies and condemn ones that do not live up to their point of view. Here is another case in point. Recently, four ELCA bishops (along with other religious leaders) signed a letter to United States Senators saying that the Republican “budget proposal passed by the House of Representatives, which the Senate will vote on this week, fails the basic tests of justice, compassion and a commitment to the common good.” They go on to say the “House budget turns its back on the most vulnerable at a time of grave economic uncertainty even as it endorses policies that gives tax breaks for the privileged few. This is morally indefensible.” (read here)
The ELCA puts forth very little effort to make disciples as Jesus told us to do, they are not bringing people to the saving knowledge of Christ and what He has done, but they are great at being a voice for progressive liberalism.
