Women’s retreat you will want to miss…

United Lutheran Seminary in Pennsylvania is a seminary of the liberal Evangelical Lutheran Church an America. The President of the seminary, Guy Erwin, is a man “married” to a man and Erwin was also the ELCA’s first practicing homosexual bishop.

United Lutheran Seminary is advertising a retreat for women in ministry called “Kindling Faith: Calm in the Chaos” and the main speaker is Dr. Crystal Hall described thus:   She is a frequent speaker in churches and denominational conferences on topics including women’s leadership, LGBTQIA+ inclusion and immigration. She resides in Philadelphia with her fiancé and their cat, Lady Blue.

The seminary is not shy about advertising that Dr. Hall is living with her fiancé, which used to be called “fornication” and is a serious sin (1 Corinthians 6:9-11).    But if the ELCA affirms homosexual sex and abortion rights, why not fornication?   The ELCA is not biblical, but, sadly, it is consistent.

And the deceived women will go...... Every morning as I get dressed, I ask the Lord that I, and all my children, will Not be deceived. The Word says even the elect can/will be deceived. My prayer is not to be one of them.

The "we scratch every sexual itch" ELCA clerics continue to use their (invariably bowdlerized) Bibles only as paperweights and coffee table adornments. The Holy Spirit is trying to tell these proudly apostate libertines that unless they repent, find the real Jesus, and start heeding the real Bible, they'll be lost for eternity.

…What fascinates me about all of these passages are the words used for husband and wife. The Greek word ἀνήρ (aner) means man, men, husband. The Greek word γυνή (gyne) means woman, wife, bride.

These words are important because they show that “woman” and “wife” go together, as do “man” and “husband.” Because these roles in marriage are sex/gender specific, a woman can’t be a husband and a man can’t be a wife.

Many same-sex couples know this to be the case, which is why women in a same-sex marriage refer to the other as wife and same-sex male couples call each other husband.

Christians who hold to pro-gay theology have a practical problem. How can same-sex couples obey the biblical commands for marriage? Which partner takes on the role of the husband, and which takes on the role of the wife? How are these roles decided? Are they fluid? Who is the head of the relationship? Whose prayers are hindered by mistreating the other? Who dishonors the word of God by not being submissive?

Trying to live out a biblical marriage while engaged in a same-sex marriage is impossible. It’s like trying to have a biblical relationship with your mistress. The biblical advice for homosexuality and adultery are the same: Don’t engage in them."

[…] Porneia (immorality) refers to all sexual sin, and all sexual sin is against God and against godly love. It is the antonym of enkrateia, which refers to self–control, especially in the area of sex. When Paul spoke before Felix and his wife Drusilla, “discussing righteousness, self–control and the judgment to come, Felix became frightened and said, ‘Go away for the present, and when I find time, I will summon you’ ” (Acts 24:24–25). Felix had stolen Drusilla from her former husband and was therefore living with her in an adulterous relationship. The sexual self–control of which Paul spoke pertained to lustful passion, as Felix understood. The message to the governor was that he was living contrary to God’s righteousness by refusing to discipline his sexual desire, and for that he was subject to God’s judgment.

Loss of sexual self–control leads to its opposite, which is immorality and impurity. Akatharsia(impurity) is a more general term than porneia, referring to anything that is unclean and filthy. Jesus used the word to describe the rottenness of decaying bodies in a tomb (Matt. 23:27). The other ten times the word is used in the New Testament it is associated with sexual sin. It refers to immoral thoughts, passions, ideas, fantasies, and every other form of sexual corruption.

Contemporary sex madness has even found its way into the church. The influence of the lustful world has been so pervasive and the church so weak and undiscerning that many Christians have become convinced that all sorts of sexual excesses and impurities are covered by grace or can be rendered morally safe if engaged in with the right attitude—especially if some Scripture verse can be twisted to give seeming support. But immorality and impurity cannot be sanctified or modified into anything better than what they are, which is wickedness—a crime against the holy God and the loving Savior. In 1 Corinthians 5:1–5 and 6:13–20 Paul shows that there is no place for that in the Christian life."
