Years ago when I was a pastor in the liberal Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, three of the worse days of the year were attending the Minneapolis Area Synod Assembly. Speakers were almost always pushing us to the left of the theological spectrum.
I just glanced at the schedule for the upcoming Minneapolis Area Synod Assembly. Things are as bad as ever. The keynote speaker is Dr. David Lose, President of the Lutheran Theological Seminary of Philadelphia. Dr. Lose denies that Jesus died on the cross in our place to bear the wrath of God in order to make atonement for our sins. A second speaker is popular speaker Reverend Barbara Lundblad. She has been in a lesbian relationship for many years, way before the ELCA decided in favor of the ordination of practicing homosexuals. She broke the rules for years and now she is invited to speak at an ELCA Assembly.
I am so glad I am no longer a part of the ELCA and no longer required to go to these assemblies.
May the Lord grow the churches that honor Him, and may those that dishonor Him repent, and if they don't repent, may they shrink--and the liberal denominations are indeed shrinking.
In Jesus our Savior,
