Many in the ELCA like to claim Luther didn't believe in the inerrancy of Scripture. Saying this works well with their desire to pick and choose or deny parts of the Bible. It allows the denomination to preach universal salvation, that homosexuality is good, to pay for abortions, to dismiss God's promises to the Jews. It allows some to question Jesus' need to die for our sins, to reject Biblical prophecy, to pray to "Mother," to doubt a place called Hell and the Virgin birth.
