Most ELCA leaders believe in evolution. Over 1500 of them even signed a document saying so (see here and here).

In fact, last month a group of ELCA pastors stumbled upon my article with the list of 1500+ ELCA leaders who support evolution and a number of them wrote me, one pastor said, “Being an ELCA clergy person, and not being on the list I can assure you that there will be at least one more (me)-- thank you for bringing this to my attention.” Another ELCA pastor wrote, “Thank you for bringing this letter to my attention...I look forward to signing it myself as soon as possible.” Yet another ELCA leader commented, “I am so disappointed that I did not make your 'heretic' list. I do indeed believe what was in that letter that 1,500 of my fellow ELCA clergy signed.” Finally another ELCA pastor stated “I'm happy my name is on your list...”

ELCA leaders are proud of their denial of clear Biblical teaching. They claim they believe “science.” What they truly believe are lies and foolishness. Evolution is not fact as it is not provable, and there is little evidence for it. That's why it continues to be called the “theory of evolution.”

Apostasy is nothing if not simultaneously arrogant and awfully afraid of the world's condescending condemnation.

These ELCA-pastor acolytes for evolution are smarter than Jesus, Who said, "Have you not read that he who created them from the beginning made them male and female?"

The ELCA clerics have also concocted a God who is capricious and unjust. According to their evolutionary faith, at some point in the evolutionary process, God would have said, "Guess what, Mr. and Mrs. Ape? You're still apes, but your latest offspring have 'evolved' sufficiently that I'm now going to call them human beings, 'created' in my image. Sorry about that."

It is interesting that former Presiding Bishop Hanson didn't bellieve in Intelligent Design. Intelligent Design, which is a position held not only by Christians but non-Christians, posits that there was a Designer who was needed to cause varied forms of ordered life to arise out of non-existence. So if Hanson is a Christian, why does he reject a Designer, ergo God?

Even Christians who posit that God created life by non-Darwinian, theistic evolution realize that the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics states that the universe is naturally going from order to decay. For these people, the possibility of macroevolution stands as further support for the existence of God, rather than disproving Him. After all, to change a life form 's kind would require new genetic material to increase the complexity of the life form. Mutations only degrade genetic material of a species, rather than add to it.

And finally, even if science would suggest that it took four billion years for the creation of earth, this is based on it being taken as a purely natural event. However, since it was a supernatural event, what could prevent God from doing this in six days? After all, Einstein proved that time is relative. And God is the Master of time, space and matter. So how much more amazing is it that our God can do four billion years' worth of work in six days?

One thing stands clear to me. I believe that Adam and Eve were real, historical people who committed the first sin. If you believe the human race is basically good, you need only turn on the nightly news to confirm the reality of the Fall and change your mind. What other creature seeks to rule the world by killing its own kind if not restrained by God from these attempts? Do grizzly bears try to kill all the polar bears in the world? Are chimps intent on wiping out all the bonobos? Do lions desire the death of all tigers? And science has called the human being "homo sapiens", meaning "man of wisdom". But God's "foolishness" trumps all human wisdom. What human philosopher's ideas have served to make this world better? Marx? Nietzsche? Peter Singer? Only the God-Man Jesus has ideas which can not only make life better here on Earth,but even better still, can also take us to a new, incorruptible Earth to live with Him forever in joy. Praise God for the Gospel of Christ, crucified and raised for me, for you, for everyone! Perhaps if the ELCA hadn't drifted from its Gospel mission to be used of the Holy Spirit to call believers to Christ, they wouldn't be spending their time trying to discount the very Holy Scriptures which they were ostensibly sworn to defend...

Proclaiming themselves to be wise, they become fools. Jesus said, sanctify them in Thy truth, Thy Word (The Bible) is truth. As for me, I will believe Jesus.

When one removes the Word from their worldview other supposed virtues and ideals are trascendentalized to fill the moral void. Why follow the Truth when one can make up their own theology of puffery? The liberal elite of the ELCA have effectively wiped the bread and wine from the altar and replaced it with a mirror, and the very image of this wretched apfelgott enraptures them.
