Most radical Living Lutheran article to date: ELCA bisexual pastor wants overthrow of “cis-gender patriarchy” and capitalism

For years, Living Lutheran, the official magazine of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, has printed articles promoting homosexuality and transgenderism, while forbidding the traditional, biblical viewpoint in its pages. As if to see how radical it can become, Living Lutheran magazine celebrates gay pride month in an interview with queer/bisexual ELCA activist pastor Elle Dowd, who calls for the overthrow of “heteronormality” and capitalism. It is the most radical Living Lutheran article to date.

Here are some highlights:

The article begins: June is Pride Month, and we are excited to amplify the voices of our ELCA siblings who are proud to be part of the LGBTQIA+ community... Today we are speaking with pastor, author and activist Elle Dowd (she/they).

Dowd states: I am currently...finish(ing) up my Ph.D. in queer theology, researching bisexual theology...I have a lot of religious trauma from growing up in the church...I received a lot of messages about the sinfulness of my identity (as a bisexual/quer pastor), which deeply harmed me... we can’t continue to affirm theology that is killing people. The ELCA needs to move toward a full-throated, wholehearted affirmation and even celebration of LGBTQIA+ people..What I want to know is: Are you lobbying your legislators to protect LGBTQIA+ people? Are you protesting and taking the streets when our rights are ripped away from us? ...Does your budget and your calendar reflect that we are a priority? Are we in your pulpits? In your liturgy? In your Sunday school illustrations? What kind of conversations are you having around reparations?...Does your congregation have education about the phenomenon of bisexual erasure? ...I pray for... the dismantling of white supremacy, for an end to cis-hetero patriarchy, for the fall of capitalism and empire, for #landback, for abolition, for reparations, for restoration...

So ends the article Whew! The truth is that if I Corinthians 6:9-11 is true, that homosexuals will not inherit the Kingdom of God, then it is hateful to promote homosexuality, which the ELCA is doing in its national magazine.

Living Lutheran is funded by ELCA offering dollars. That's right, your ELCA offering dollars at work, overthrowing “hetero-normality” and capitalism.

PS. The article states that its author is Kelly Wilkerson who is in full-time ministry and “resides with her fiancée”, an unashamed plug for pre-marital cohabitation

And This Person in question is an active Pastor in a Christian Church? His remarks, evidently sanctioned by the ELCA Synod is only more proof of that Synod of the Lutheran Church moving even further away from the Word of God Almighty, and closer to becoming one more group of volunteers to join the Legions of Satan. Only God will decide what punishment, if any is to be placed in that group, BUT we must all keep in mind that there aee members if that Synod that DO NOT follow the values of people such as this so-called Pastor. In being a member of an ELCA Church, I personally can attest that remaining a member of such a church at times requires a strong stomach, but some of us remain solely to confound the philosophies being presently followed . May GOD give me strength, & wisdom in my efforts.

ELCA impastor: "...we can’t continue to affirm theology that is killing people."

So is she pledging that the ELCA will repent and stop preaching the scratch-every-sexual-itch pagan "gospel" it's been peddling for decades.

Because the ELCA's "gospel" is killing people. And its clerical wolves surely show no current signs of repenting of their predations. "Many will follow their evil teaching and shameful immorality. And because of these teachers, the way of truth will be slandered.” [2 Peter 2:2}

Pastor David Guzik exegetes one of the Bible's many admonitions to live exactly opposite of the licentiousness widely preached and practiced in the ELCA:

1 Thess. 4:6b-8: "Because the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also forewarned you and testified. For God did not call us to uncleanness, but in holiness. Therefore he who rejects this does not reject man, but God, who has also given us His Holy Spirit."

a. Because the Lord is the avenger of all such: This is the first of four reasons for sexual purity. We can trust that God will punish sexual immorality, and that no one gets away with this sin – even if it is undiscovered.

b. For God did not call us to uncleanness, but in holiness: This is the second reason why Christians should be sexually pure – because of our call. That call is not to uncleanness, but to holiness; therefore, sexual immorality is simply inconsistent with who we are in Jesus Christ.

i. Paul developed this same line of thought in 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 and 6:15-20, concluding with the idea that we should glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.

c. Therefore he who rejects this does not reject man, but God: The third reason for sexual purity is because to reject God’s call to sexual purity is not rejecting man, but God Himself. Despite the petty ways many rationalize sexual immorality, we still reject God when we sin in this way.

i. Paul’s strong command here did not seem to come because the Thessalonians were deep in sin. No specific sin is mentioned; it seems that this was meant to prevent sin rather than to rebuke sin, in light of the prevailing low standards in their society and because of the seductive strength of sexual immorality.

d. Who has also given us His Holy Spirit: This is the fourth of four reasons for sexual purity given in this passage. We have been given the Holy Spirit, who empowers the willing, trusting Christian to overcome sexual sin. By His Spirit, God has given us the resources for victory; we are responsible to use those resources.

Catching up reading these articles, and so far all of them are people trying to make scripture fit their lifestyle. They don't see or won't see the truth in scripture and and don't seem to think perhaps they might be the one who needs to change.

You’re one-hundred percent correct Rebecca, I have witnessed it many times myself. I am still a member if an ELCA church, & a member of the Church Council. The only reason I have not switched to a Church of a different Synod is that I prefer to remain a “Thorn in the Side” so to speak, & gently work for the other more sensibly God Loving factions. Not that it does not require a bit of a strong stomach at times.
