"Living Lutheran," the Website for the ELCA's National Magazine, has Article that Promotes Gay Pride Sundays for its Congregations

If you read my posts often, you have read more than one story of how "Living Lutheran," the official magazine of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, regularly highlights transgender and homosexual Lutherans. The trend continues with a recent website article which has a large picture of two men and a child and talks about the need to redefine the family in the Lutheran church. The article is written by Martin Zimmann of the newly formed United Lutheran Seminary (ELCA finances and seminaries are shrinking and this seminary was formed as a merger of two former seminaries). He writes:

"... same-sex couples...are seeking acceptance in a congregational setting. All congregations are supposed to be welcoming, but there’s a difference between lip-service and genuine acceptance and hospitality. Eight years ago the ELCA Churchwide Assembly voted in support of LGBTQIA folks both as rostered leaders and members within the church body, yet how many of our congregations make a point of posting visible signs of welcome to this community? Better yet, how many congregations are willing to have a Pride Sunday in addition to Mother’s and Father’s Day celebrations?"

There you have it, an article at the ELCA's official magazine website promoting Gay Pride Sunday for its congregations. The Old Testament and New Testament (I Corinthians 6:9-11, Romans 1, I Timothy 1 and elsewhere) both condemn homosexual behavior as sin. But the ELCA says we should be proud of it.

I never thought the Church would become so blind in my lifetime. If you are an ELCA member, it is time to take your money, time and talents and join a more Biblical branch of Lutheranism. When you give money to the ELCA, you support things like "Living Lutheran."

Pastor Zimmann laments the lack of affirmation for homosexuality in some ELCA congregations. He seems to have forgotten the ELCA's pledge (after its apostasy-approving convention vote in 2009) to respect everyone's "bound conscience" on the issue. That disingenuous assurance lasted about a year. Now, the all-gay, all-the-time ELCA is telling its few remaining confessional Lutherans, "Get your minds right, rubes. Your consciences are bound to Higgins Road and whatever you read in 'Living Lutheran'."

Here's why Pastor Zimmann's plea for the acceptance of Bible-proscribed sin will never be answered to his satisfaction, even in the predominantly apostasy-riddled ELCA:

". . . There is no "homosexual voice within the Church," for the homosexual's conversion entails a choice—This, or That—the sin, or the Faith. He cannot have both, nor can the Church in any way accommodate the sin from which he has been cleansed. It is wholly and actively and vehemently against it as a destroyer of the souls it has been called to save. It labors among the saints only in the accomplishment of what has already been done in Christ: cleansing, sanctification, and justification in the Name of the Lord. . . .

"The Church never can and never will give satisfaction—and the homosexualist knows it, for he knows the words against him are ineradicable—to the declared and impenitent homosexual, the person who, through an act of the vermiculate will, has identified his person with a sin, whether he demands acceptance of his sin through "love," or vindication through identification of his perceived enemies as bigots. Whether he presents himself as an object of love or indignation, what he demands in either case is acceptance not of the person, but of the sin-bound and sin-defined person. He demands the declaration of spiritual authority that there is nothing objectively disordered about this binding of man to sin, and assurance that this monstrous amalgam can indeed enter the kingdom of heaven. This can never happen among Christians until they abandon Christianity, which is at war with every sin, and whose indelible constitution places all perversions of the perfect man at the muzzle of its canons."
