An ELCA pastor wrote the following on an ELCA facebook page which was discussing the movie "Son of God" -
"Not a great title in this era of increasingly aware inter-faith-sensitive folks who see Christian History as a history of violence done toward peoples of other faiths because Christians believed that their spokesperson or prophet was the Son of God (misunderstood to mean that Jesus was God). Son of God was originally attributed to Ceasar. The Christians wanted all to know that their allegiance was NOT to Ceasar, but to the Holy One to whom this itinerant Rabbi pointed. The One who sent me, Jesus would say. In other words, we need to make a theocentric move here in order to show consideration for our Muslim, Jewish, Hindhu, Buddhist....and all other friends. These kinds of Christocentric obsessive movies just continue to give the rest of us Christians a bad name." (reported by Lutheran CORE here and originally post from a closed ELCA facebook group here) It is this pastor and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America that give Christians a bad name, but worse than that, they are leading people away from Truth, God's Word and Faith in God the Son.

Well, some years ago, just out of curiosity, I went to see a movie about the Buddha. I was be no means offended, nor did I desire to disown Christ and consider Buddha. But that film was most assuredly Buddhocentric. When an ostensibly Christian pastor no longer believes that Jesus is The only Way, Truth and Life and desires to dethrone that very same King of the universe from His central role in the salvation of humankind, that pastor is ashamed of Christ, and not only has nullified their baptism into Christ, but also broken their pastoral vows as servants of Jesus Christ who have sworn to uphold the Scriptures and the Creeds which summarize their teachings . In His Word, Jesus plainly says that those who teach will be held to a stricter judgment. And He also says that He will be ashamed of those who were ashamed of Him upon His return. It would be better for this "Christian" pastor to just leave the ELCA for the Unitarian Universalism which they truly believe, than to remain the wolves in sheep's clothing that would shipwreck the Faith once delivered to the saints by our Lord Himself, which exists in those under their pastoral care.

Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
