ELCA Proudly Announces They Have Their First Transgender Bishop

On May 8, 2021, the Sierra Pacific Synod of the ELCA elected transgender pastor Megan Rohrer bishop of their synod.

Thrilled with the news, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America issued a press release with posts on their website, Facebook page and their magazine Living Lutheran announcing the historic action of the ELCA's "first openly transgender bishop..." (See below)

The news has been picked up by many national news outlets including this one from NPR.

The ELCA mocks God. They mock God's Word. They lead others astray and they twist the Truth. The ELCA:

Supports abortion, even paying for employee's and their family's abortions.
Celebrates homosexuality, same-sex marriage and allows practicing gay pastors.
Teaches universalism, that all are saved and that there is nobody going to hell.
They ordain transgender pastors.
Continually signals out Israel, the only Jewish nation, for condemnation, seeking to harm them.
Teaches evolution.
Publicizes and advocates their leftist political beliefs.
Denigrates the truth of Scripture.
Uses gender neutral or feminine words for God.
Pays for sex change drugs and surgery of those on their insurance plan.
Allows goddess worship.

I can no longer have any respect for anyone who remains in the ELCA. That includes churches that remain too, from the very smallest to the biggest (the ELCA's Lutheran Church of Hope in West Des Moines and Nazareth Lutheran in Cedar Falls, to name a few). Shame on you for staying in a denomination that is not faithful to Scripture but is leading people into sin and away from Jesus. Your participation is your shame and you have no excuse. You can not justify being part of this evil, faith-destroying denomination.

Megan Rohrer was elected May 8 to serve a six-year term as bishop of the Sierra Pacific Synod of the ELCA. Rohrer is the first transgender bishop in the ELCA.

In an Easter Sunday sermon, Martin Luther echoed Jude's warning to apostate teachers and their disciples: "...some ungodly people have wormed their way into your churches, saying that God’s marvelous grace allows us to live immoral lives. The condemnation of such people was recorded long ago, for they have denied our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ."

“. . .Nor may we in our works and in our daily life tolerate the yielding to the wantonness of the flesh and at the same boast the Gospel of Christ, as did the Corinthians, who stirred up among themselves divisions and disorder, even to the extent of one marrying his stepmother. In such matters as these, Paul says, a little leaven leavens and ruins the whole lump - the entire Christian life. These two things are not consistent with each other: to hold to the Christian faith and to live after the wantonness of the flesh, in sins and vices condemned by the conscience. Paul elsewhere warns (I Cor 6, 9-10): ”Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with men, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.” Again (Gal 5, 19-21): ”The works of the flesh are manifest . . . of which I forewarn you, even as I did forewarn you, that they who practice such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.”

We should teach that such sins are so much the more vicious and damnable when practiced under the name of the Gospel, under cover of Christian liberty; for that is despising and blaspheming the name of Christ and the Gospel: and therefore such conduct must be positively renounced and purged out, as irreconcilable with faith and a good conscience.”

One of the cherished themes at this church, for roughly 5 years now, has been "the Bible doesn't actually say that!" Overwhelming, the point is to say that Christians are hypocrites and that they shouldn't recognize or acknowledge sin. Essentially, nothing is sin with the exception of recognizing sin, which is a form of bigotry.

This is a church that is very likely to have LGBTQP+ clergy in the pulpit, and very soon. There has been a significant LGBTQP+ representation on staff for years, especially in the music ministry. It will likely not be long before they have openly-LGBTQP+ preachers, along with a sermon claiming that the Bible doesn't actually have any problem with LGBTQP+.
