ELCA Lutherans name heretic first 'pastor of public witness'

Perhaps you have heard of the Reverend Nadia Bolz-Weber, radical pastor of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. She uses the "f-word" frequently and gave Gloria Steinem a golden vagina statue to thank Steinem for her feminist work. Bolz-Weber had 31,000 Lutheran teenagers repeat after her at an ELCA youth gathering "I renounce the lie that queerness is anything other than beauty". Divorced Bolz-Weber in an interview spoke publicly about the electrifying sex she has had with her boyfriend: "But I get together with my boyfriend and start having sex and it was like 'holy s---,' I was like, it felt like an exfoliation of my whole spirit. I'm like 'This is so good for my brain chemistry, and my body, and my heart. And I’m like f--- man, why in the world would the Church say ‘Don’t do this?’

Bolz-Weber also denies that God the Father punished Jesus for our sins, claiming this would make God a divine child abuser.

Recently the ELCA installed Bolz-Weber as their first "pastor of public witness". According to the below article, "The entire conference of bishops of the ELCA had to sign off on the newly created position."

The apostasy in the ELCA is now complete. If you have friends still in the ELCA, please forward them this article. I am afraid the days of "staying within the ELCA to make a difference” are long gone.

Martin Luther described the only "evangelism" the universalism-preaching ELCA is doing these days: “Arrogant and stubborn people despise the Word of God and laugh at well-intentioned words of caution…We must guard against this false teaching. It’s not enough for these people to bring destruction on themselves. They intend to drag us down with them. Like the people of Sodom, they don’t realize that their sins will soon be punished.”(LW, 3:239)

Nadia Bolz-Weber is the acknowledged high priestess of the ELCA's scratch-every-sexual-itch evangelistic campaign, even going so far as speculating in a blog article that Jesus' mother Mary was likely something of an ELCAnite in her youth:

"...We have no idea what Mary was like before the angel visited her, but here’s what I’m thinking: I seriously doubt that she made herself into a girl whom God could favor because she took the advice of her youth rabbi and lived the way she should. I mean, nowhere does it say that the angel Gabriel just waited and waited until he found a girl who had diligently worked on her virtues hard enough that she had made herself worthy to be the Godbearer. I mean, if the way God seems to favor prostitutes and tax collectors and adulterous kings over the smug, righteous, and powerful is any indication, then I think it’s safe to assume that it is God’s nature to look upon young peasant girls with favor."

Bolz-Weber mixes in some other partial, incomplete truths in her post:
"...So maybe the really outrageous act of faith on Mary’s part was trusting that she had found favor with God. This, it seems to me, is a vital and overlooked miracle of the Annunciation story. Yet instead, we prefer to focus on what virtues we think Mary must have had so that we can cultivate them in ourselves and maybe make our own selves worthy of God.

"Hail Mary full of virtue, the Lord is with thee?

"No. Hail Mary, full of GRACE, the Lord is with thee, the prayer goes.

"Grace. The one thing you simply cannot earn."

God's grace is unearned and unmerited. It is also something you don't take for granted as you stubbornly disobey His Word by living impenitently in your sins. The "grace" the ELCA preaches is the cheap grace described by Lutheran pastor Dietrich Bonhoeffer: "Cheap grace is the preaching of forgiveness without requiring repentance, baptism without church discipline, Communion without confession, absolution without personal confession. Cheap grace is grace without discipleship, grace without the cross, grace without Jesus Christ, living and incarnate. . . .Such grace is costly because it calls us to follow, and it is grace because it calls us to follow Jesus Christ. It is costly because it costs a man his life, and it is grace because it gives a man the only true life. It is costly because it condemns sin, and grace because it justifies the sinner."

The rest of the truth about Mary, of course, is there in the Bible for those who don't have sin-seared consciences driving their agendas:

Mary wasn't sinlessly perfect, and she didn't "work" on her virtues to try to make herself acceptable to God.

But she was virtuous.

"And Mary said to the angel, 'How will this be, since I am a virgin?'” (Luke1:34)
Mary was a humble peasant girl, yes, but a chaste peasant girl. That critical fact would carry no weight with Nadia the *Shameless* author and her Naked and Unashamed ELCA fellow libertines, who spend inordinate portions of their “ministries” wielding their tiny hatchets against God’s clear proscription of every sexual relationship outside the marriage of a biological man to a biological woman.

If Nadia Bolz-Weber, newly installed “pastor of public witness” of the ELCA, had been Mary’s youth rabbi, Nadia's counsel to Mary would have doubtless matched the counsel she gave to her own daughter: “I want you to love sex, sweetie…I want you to be comfortable in your body and learn what it desires and how to communicate that to your lovers. So start that process now. Know your body. Speak up for what you want or don’t want. That will serve you your whole life.

Mary the mother of Jesus said, “My soul magnifies the LORD, and my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior.” The Nadia-coached “Mary” would have said, “My soul magnifies myself, and my spirit has rejoiced in the abortion-loving feminists like Gloria Steinem who told me to ignore all those prudish Biblical constraints on the authentic me."

And when God favored a prostitute like Rahab, a tax collector like Matthew, and an adulterous king like David, He knew He could touch their hearts to humbly REPENT (surely the dirtiest word in the ELCA lexicon) of their sins and turn to Him in faith. Rahab didn't remain Rahab the harlot. She became Rahab the wife of Salmon and mother of Boaz, Rahab the heroine mentioned in Hebrews 11, and Rahab one of four women listed in Matthew’s genealogy of Jesus Christ.

Jesus said, “I did not come to call the [self-proclaimed] righteous [who see no need to repent], but sinners to repentance [to change their old way of thinking, to turn from sin and to seek God and His righteousness]” [Luke 5:32, AMPL]. The ELCA Revised Standard Version would have its “Jesus” saying this in Luke 5:32: “I did not come to call the righteous but sinners . . . so that I could tell them Mother God made them just the way they are and that I commend them in those behaviors that get lots of warm fuzzies from the world."

The real Jesus also said, “Let them alone; they are blind guides. And if the blind lead the blind, both will fall into a pit.” The apostate ELCA feels its "mission" has been accomplished only when it can entice others to share the pit it occupies.
