(Below is an article written by Rev. Tom Brock of pastorsstudy.org. At the end of Pastor Brock's article I have posted some additional comments and information. You can follow Pastor Brock on Facebook - here and Twitter - here.) Francisco Herrera, a graduate of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America's seminary, Lutheran School of Theology in Chicago, doesn't like that John 3:36 teaches that those who reject Christ will be lost. So, in an obscenity-laden "Advent devotional", he says this to the Apostle John: "...if the God that we serve would condemn such gorgeous souls to eternal torment, let that God stand accursed — and you with him!" You heard right, this ELCA leader curses John--and God – for teaching that those who reject Christ are lost. I have read many heresies, but this is one of the worst. Please pray for this man's soul. He is one more reason people should leave the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America for a more biblical denomination. In Jesus our Savior, Pastor Tom Brock Pastorsstudy.org (Read Francisco Herrera's words here. This was all part of an advent devotional put out by two ELCA pastors, Tuhina Verma Rasche and Jason Chesnut. Note: Language Warning. The advent devotional's title is below). (If there was any doubt how horrific and vile these devotionals are, take a look at the headings of the following days "devotionals.")

What's really disturbing about this devotional is that it comes from a school and their "proteges" claiming to represent "progress." It goes beyond the profanity which is just for negative advertising... They are indoctrinated into catering to politics and culture as the only way to minister to a hurting and hungering world. How does this even allow Christ to come into the picture? It doesn't, plain and simple. It is the adolescent grumblings of Lutherans aspiring to become Unitarians... atheism is around the corner.

Just another reason that I am thankful that we left this group in 2009. We are thankful to have found LCMC, They are a great cloud of witnesses to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

The irony of this devotional can't be missed. It goes something like this: "My glorious God would never judge gorgeous souls of those who reject him yet if you reject this loving position then damn you to hell."

I'm reminded of a fellow Lutheran pastor who would not take a stand when confronted with similar heresy. I asked him, "What was it going to take, a church member to say 'there is no God', for him to take a stand?"

I believe this is a clear indication of what happens to a soul that openly defies God, rejects his grace and and the God of scripture. The soul plunges into the abyss and spews or vomits out this evil filth. When will people wake up to the empty and evil teachings of the ELCA. Here is one example of the fulfillment of 1 Timothy 4:1-2. I agree, this man needs prayer before it is too late.
