ELCA head bishop stands up for transgenderism for youth

As my liberal State of Minnesota is on the verge of proclaiming itself a “safe state“ for “gender affirming care“ for youth—which means giving children hormone blockers to prevent them from developing naturally—you would think the head of a Christian denomination would stand up against this barbarity. Instead, Bishop Elizabeth Eaton of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, who produces a yearly gay pride video, has decided to stand up for transgenderism. You will note below that she talks not about “our transgender brothers and sisters“, that would be too binary, instead she calls them “our siblings”.

In contrast to the transgender craziness that has overtaken much of our culture, Jesus said that there are only two genders (Matthew 19:4). It would be good if Eaton would remember to follow Christ and not the depraved mind of our culture. The ELCA even pays for hormone blockers for children in the denomination’s healthcare plan. That’s right, your ELCA offering dollars at work, destroying children’s sexuality before it can develop. ELCA offering dollars also pay for abortion for any reason in the denomination’s healthcare plan.

Just today I heard an elderly ELCA Lutheran bemoan the fact that her congregation is closing because young people aren’t coming anymore. But they can’t come if the Church is killing them in the womb. And if a denomination is telling a boy that he can really be a girl, that denomination is doomed to shrink. And the ELCA is shrinking under Eaton’s leadership.

PS. Famed atheist and biologist Richard Dawkins recently stated that “There are only two sexes, and that’s all there is to it.” He said LGBTQ activists trying to discredit two biological sexes are pushing “utter nonsense.”

That woman is sick, & demented. Her attitude towards this Transgender situation goes beyond Christian Love, and degrades into Sstanism.

Richard Dawkins isn't alone in standing up for the biological science that Bishop Eaton and the ELCA reject. Biologist and Nobel Prize winner Dr. Christiane Nusslein-Volhard called the idea of transgenderism “nonsense” and “wishful thinking.” “There’s one sex that produces the eggs and has two X chromosomes. That’s called female,” she said. “And there’s the other one that makes the sperm and has an X and a Y chromosome. That’s called male.”

Far worse, though, is Elizabeth Eaton's capitulation to God-dishonoring apostasy.

In order to proceed aright let us direct our attention to Genesis 1 [:27], “So God created man . . . male and female he created them.” From this passage we may be assured that God divided mankind into two classes, namely, male and female, or a he and a she. This was so pleasing to him that he himself called it a good creation [Gen. 1:31]. Therefore, each one of us must have the kind of body God has created for us. I cannot make myself a woman, nor can you make yourself a man; we do not have that power. But we are exactly as he created us: I a man and you a woman. Moreover, he wills to have his excellent handiwork honored as his divine creation, and not despised. The man is not to despise or scoff at the woman or her body, nor the woman the man. But each should honor the other’s image and body as a divine and good creation that is well‑pleasing unto God himself."

oh, those statements are good ammo for elca churches complaining that people aren't coming in. If you murder the babies, allow gay marriage who cannot do what Jesus said to go and multiply, that cuts down on members.
When I was in an elca church, we had meetings to work out how to bring in people. Having been in Bible teaching churches, full of the Spirit, I knew what they could do-----but they would not have heard me.
(If you wonder why I was there, most churches have the volume so loud, many cannot deal with it--and that was me. When I first went to the L church, the music was lovely.......Later a new organist changed that.)

I don’t understand how members of a Christian organization can actually go along with rehtoric such as this.

The ELCA is falling apart because it's doing everything but its job as a church. Like most mainline Christian (I use the term loosely) church bodies, it's doing things that belong to the care of the worldly kingdom to do, in terms of fight for social equality, inclusiveness, etc. At a minimum, it and all other denominations practicing the celebration of sins God calls abominations need to stop immediately if not sooner.
The true Christian Church has one main task--to call people, whoever and wherever they may be, to repentance and faith in the One True God. Thank God that, like the hundreds of Israelites who had not yet turned to Baal during Elijah's time, there are many Confessional Lutheran bodies that still preach and teach God's Word in its truth and purity and believe,,teach and confess the Book of Concord because, rather than insofar as, it is a true interpretation of God's Word.

I remember back in the 60s and 70s, they used to advertise Toupee's (hairpieces for men) in popular magazines, especially those aimed at the male demographic. We all came across a stranger or new someone in our community who wore a Toupee, but out of courtesy or fear of offense, no-one had the heart to tell the poor soul that it looked ridiculous. The wearer, thinking they had succeeded in their deception, never became aware of their inability to conceal their baldness. And feelings of inadequacy remained.

Transgenderism is the modern-day equivalent of the Toupee. And the ELCA exhorts its members to just play along. It has long given up on exposing insecurities, cause it lacks a real Gospel that can heal.
