ELCA Falsely Claims God Calls All People His Children

The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America made the following post on Facebook.

The ELCA has failed to correctly impart God's Word to people, as is documented on this website. Here is another example of the ELCA telling people something that goes against the truth explained in Scripture.

The post, speaking to God, says "You call all people of the world your children." This is not what the Bible says. God's Word tells us in John 1:12, "But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, the gave the right to become children of God". You can read similar statements like this in the Bible that have the same sentiment. (learn more about this here)

Please stop listening to ELCA leaders, ELCA pastors, ELCA institutions, and ELCA publications.

Know the Bible, do not just believe what you are told by others. Check them against what God's World says. This is true for all pastors, including those that are not ELCA but have been educated by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.

I have shared these truths with friends still at an elca, I pray their consciences will be bothered enough, they walk away. It is really hard for folks who have been in a church with family for dozens of years to let go.
But somewhere it is said, "There is no truth in them."
So many deceived...............

Martin Luther still speaks Sola Scriptura truth to power, in this instance rebuking the satanic guile of ELCA bishops and pastors. Luther remains a prophetic biblical touchstone against which the ELCA’s universalism doctrine is exposed as a duplicitous heresy.

Martin Luther on John 14:1 — “…the Father commands the whole world to believe that Christ is God. No one should believe in any other person or accept any other way to know God than Christ…whoever tries to go around Christ won’t meet the true God…everything they do and believe is useless.” (LW, 24:23)

Martin Luther on John 3:4 — “These are plain but powerful words: ‘You must be born again’ (John 3:7). We have to pass from the birth of sin to the birth of righteousness. Otherwise, we will never go to heaven…Let these words stay as they are…Understand the simple meaning of these words the way they are usually read…You shouldn’t dare to reinterpret the Word of God your own way…The Scriptures should always be handled with reverence and respect.” (LW, 22:282)

Martin Luther on Galatians 3:26 — “Faith has made you righteous. Which faith? Faith in Christ…The book of John testifies to this: ‘Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.’ (John 1:12)” (LW, 26:351)

Martin Luther on 1 Peter 1:3 — “..we must preach about Jesus Christ, that he died and rose from the dead and why he died and was resurrected. We must preach so that the people will believe in him and through faith be saved. This is what it means to preach the true gospel. Any preaching that is different than this is not the gospel, no matter who preaches it.” (LW, 30:9)

Martin Luther on Jesus’ words in John 3:7 (“You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.’”) — “But those who are born anew, or being born anew, surrender and follow God...They trust what John records in his gospel and cling to it. As true children of God, they will receive their eternal inheritance.” (LW, 52:79)

Martin Luther on John 14:5-6—“All our teaching and faith should center and depend on Christ. Setting aside all of our wisdom and skill, we should know nothing except the crucified Christ (1 For. 2:2)…We come to God through Christ alone." (LW, 24:32)

Martin Luther on Galatians 2:21 —“The apostle [Paul] clearly says that there is no other righteousness than through faith in Jesus Christ…Our sins are so great and so far away from righteousness that it was necessary for the Son of God to die so that righteousness could be given to us. When discussing theology, don’t call anything righteousness that is apart from faith in Christ.”(LW, 27:240)

“ We are born children of a fallen humanity: through Holy Baptism we are reborn children of God.” The Lutheran Book of Worship Baptism Rite. How quick they choose to forget.
