See the false blanket statement below made by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. The ELCA is deceiving people. Not everyone is a child of God. God tells us in His Word:
“To all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God” (John 1:12). “By this it is evident who are the children of God, and who are the children of the devil: whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is the one who does not love his brother.” - 1 John 3:10

Moralistic Therapeutic Deism is the ELCA's "gospel." Banal bromides are what its clerics peddle to a world that, like the ELCAnites, wants just a dollop of palliative religion applied to its headlong pursuit of willful sin.

The ELCA inherited over 150 years of false teaching, mostly from the LCA and its predecessors and the "renegade" LCMS members who formed the AELC for the major purpose of merging with the LCA. Ever since, it has reached new lows in apostasy, and people are still leaving. In fact, conventional wisdom has it that, if a return to true Biblical teaching, preaching, and confession, which would seemingly take a miracle from God Himself, is not undertaken, the ELCA will fall below the LCMS in terms of membership within a decade.

Since each of us is a 'beloved child of God,' according to the ELCA, can this status ever be put into jeopardy? What about those children who are false prophets or false disciples (Matthew 7) and refuse to listen? Or does John 1:12 trump Christ's words of warning?

Absolutely not, for in order to be considered a believer, one must accept the doctrine taught by Jesus Christ and His Disciples, and if they belong to a particular church body, they must also accept what the founders of that body taught. (Not to mention the fact that no part of the Bible ever contradicts another, for Paul wrote to timothy that all scripture is breather out by God, and is therefore reliable and trustworthy
