ELCA Congregation Confesses the Sparkle Creed

This is Edina Community Lutheran Church, an ELCA Church in Edina, MN. In the video below the congregation is confessing the Sparkle Creed:

“I believe in the non-binary God whose pronouns are plural.

I believe in Jesus Christ, their child, who wore a fabulous tunic and had two dads, and who saw everyone as a sibling child of God.

I believe in the rainbow Spirit, who shatters our image of one white light and refracts it into a rainbow of gorgeous diversity.

I believe in the church of everyday saints, as numerous, creative, and resilient as patches on the AIDS quilt, whose feet are grounded in mud and whose eyes gaze at the stars in Wonder.

I believe in the calling to each of us, that love is love is love, so beloved, let us love.

I believe, glorious God. Help my unbelief.

Amen.”

The congregation was celebrating Pride Sunday.

During the children's message (starting at 6:00):

- the children were given props and dress up clothes to help them celebrate.
- the children were told Jesus says "'I love you just the way you are.' And sometimes we like to celebrate that."
This is obviously gay pride related and that is confirmed by the children being told they can take their clothes/props and have their picture taken by the rainbow flag after the service.

At the beginning of the service the pastor acknowledged they worship on the traditional, ancestral and contemporary lands of the Dakota nation. And how they were complicit in injustices done to native people.

Wow, this heresy was featured on the Bongino show today. He didn’t mention the denomination but I figured it was either ELCA or Methodist. Completely pathetic.

Nah, here's the ELCA's real creed:

"I believe in Man almighty, measurer of heaven and earth.

"And I believe in the Self, my only lord; conceived by choice; born of inadequates; lived authentically, led by my passions; I was educated, inebriated, used, and disposed of; I descended to despair; the third decade I ascended into apathy, questioning all dogma; yet I sit in judgment over the politically incorrect, whom the state should silence, whether quick or dead.

And the trendy devotees of Wokianity should have, if they were honest apostates, closed their service with the ELCA's rendering of "A Mighty Fortress":

Frist, note that in the second article of the Sparkle Creed, the one supposedly about Christ, there is no mention of the cross and resurrection.
Second, the Lutheran Church historically has claimed to be a confessional church, that is a church confessing and in continuity with the holy, catholic, and apostolic church. Our use of the Apostles Creed and Nicene Creed are signs of our catholicity. The use of this Sparke Creed is a basic betrayal of the faith as delivered to us.
Third, if the bishop's office does not bring disciplinary action against this congregation it forfeits its office of oversight. The actions of these pastors and the acceptance of this heresy by these parishioners is absolutely a scandal in the church.

I could not agree more with what you have written. I believe the “Sparkle Creed” is blasphemy and presents a false view of what I as a Christian believe on many counts….too numerous to elucidate.
I also agree that not only the Bishop of that Synod, but the body called the “Council of Bishops” from many synods need to speak to this matter, and draw a line in the sand about our future in the ELCA.
We follow the lead of Martin Luther on our fundamental beliefs and teachings of the Word. He stood boldly for the beliefs we hold to be the true Word of God, not the whims of the current culture. There are plenty of examples of the latter in the Bible when the people did not listen to the Word of God. None of those examples ended well.

If the church leadership was really concerned about worshiping on the Dakota nation land, they would remove this church building & the parking area. They would turn it back to native prairie grasses to get over their "guilt" but we all know that would never happen!

Watching this service it reminded me of the worship of the idols and the false gods in the Bible for centuries & they are doing a great job leading the congregation down this path today!

Now the WOKE are in church..

Why does the gay movement encompass everything.
Why do all gay people need the spotlight on them? Who do they think they are? throwing such garbage at kids who relate to being animals.... PEOPLE WAKE UP . It is not to late. The hell with pronouns and do it the way the LORD intended..
Now you are in the churches, just like Khrushchev said, we will defeat you in schools and Church.. The winner will be communism.

As a lifelong Lutheran I am disgusted with this blasphemy of our Lord Jesus Christ. I will no longer be a part of this after 76 years. I am looking for a new home to worship that follows God’s word.
