ELCA book for teens: Porn can be "silly fun", Jesus was "totally fine" with queerness, and parents can be wrong

Beaming Books is a branch of 1517 Media, the publishing house of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. It has published a book edited by trans activist Leigh Finke who helped pass legislation making Minnesota a “safe state" for sex change operations on children. Finke's book tells LBGT teens that Jesus was "totally fine" with queerness, don't listen to parents if they are not gay affirming, and porn can be useful (see article below for full story.)

Regarding parents, "If your parents do not accept you and your queerness, then they do not know what’s best for you. They just don’t. Even if they love you, even if they’re praying for you...Just because they love you does not mean they know what is best for you. Limit contact with any adult who tells you something is wrong with you...just know that you are the only authority on who you are.”

Regarding pornography, “For starters, porn can be a safe way to explore your sexuality. You can learn about your body and pleasure and how to make the most of both. You can also take that information, when applicable, and put it to use on your partner’s body." The book recommends watching porn “with your partner, which can open up new conversations about sex and pleasure, stimulate our natural arousal systems, or it can just be a silly fun thing to experience together.”

This is perhaps the worst heresy yet from the ELCA.

Satan couldn't have said it any better.

Jesus, of course, was not "fine" with *any* sin. He died on the cross to bear the sins of the world and save everyone who would receive Him by faith. "He Himself bore our sins in His body on the tree, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness..." [1 Peter 2:24]

Leigh Finke still has that opportunity to be saved if he will humble himself and repent: "Don’t you see how wonderfully kind, tolerant, and patient God is with you? Does this mean nothing to you? Can’t you see that his kindness is intended to turn you from your sin?" [Romans 2:4]

[. . .] Jesus made a clear statement setting the objective boundaries for gender and the family. He told the sin-excusing religious rulers of His day: “Have you not read that He who created them from the beginning created them male and female, and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’?” (Matthew 19:4-5).

Jesus is quoting Genesis. But He is also talking about His own actions. As the incarnate God-man, Jesus was present in the Garden of Eden. He was involved in the very creation of the genders He is commenting on.

...Jesus gave a blanket pre-approval of the coming written “new covenant” message of his apostles, including Paul. You can read Matthew 28:18-20, John 14:21-26, 21:24-25, Acts 1:3, 9:15-16 for Jesus’ statements of authorization.

That message, written in the New Testament letters to the early churches, clearly defines homosexuality as a serious, destructive sin. This is due to its reversal of, and damage to, the sexual order. They reiterate the Old Testament’s insistence that the monogamous, heterosexual family is essential to human well-being. They repeat the Old Testament’s point that violating this boundary is to behave like children playing with loaded guns.

Other passages [besides Romans 1] echo this truth: 1 Corinthian 6:9-10, 1 Timothy 1:9-10, and Jude 7 all have statements on same-sex sexuality. Other passages extol the essential nature of the monogamous heterosexual family — and only that kind of family — for human well-being. Anything else is sin.

Thankfully, Jesus died to purchase forgiveness of any sin. He did this because He loved sinners, including sexual sinners of various types, which virtually all of us are in our actions or thoughts. In His ministry, He knew how to compassionately give grace yet hold firm against sin. In fact, holding firm against sin is a part of grace.

[ . . .]...the affirmation of the Sexual Revolution, including LGBTQ ideology, and the affirmation of biblical Christianity are 100 percent incompatible. They are hostile systems to each other.

It is why the high priests and money-changers of the temple of the Sexual Revolution must deny the true Jesus as revealed in scripture.

It is why they hate true Christianity and are attempting to silence us.

And it is why, in grace and love, we must know, speak , and live the truth in a time of testing.

Porn isn’t silly fun. It is the devil’s way of ensnaring people into his kingdom. Rabbi Jonathan Cahn talks about it in his book Return of the Gods. ELCA is the devil’s denomination, turn away. Find pastors like Pastor Allen Jackson that speak God’s truth.

. . . We’re a Christian church. We serve the Word of God.

The fact we welcome everyone to come doesn’t mean we’ll deviate from our menu. The Bible is the menu, one we will not coerce anyone into ordering from, but still the only menu we offer.

Some may come wanting only a few of the chips we serve, but not the main course. They may enjoy our music and warm company, but they’ll pass on the entree of our sermon. Fair enough; they’re still welcome. But they can hardly expect us to serve gay-affirming teaching, when our menu clearly affirms only a heterosexual marital union.

Like a good restaurant serving all people, yes, we’re gay friendly. We’re glad you’re here. But we serve gay people, not gay doctrine. That’s an item we cannot carry. We sincerely hope you understand.
