ELCA Bishop Retweet Calls the Salvation Army a 'Garbage Organization'

Kristen Kuempel is a newly elected bishop in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. (See Bishop Kuempel's description of herself on the right) Last month she retweeted a person's tweet that said:

"A reminder this holiday season that the Salvation Army is a homophobic, transphobic, uncaring, garbage organization" (See below).

The Salvation Army is a Christian denomination that loves everyone and holds to the teachings of God's Word.

The fact that an ELCA bishop demonizes and portrays the Salvation Army this way tells you everything you need to know about the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.

How do you think ELCA leadership feels about their members who believe God's Word, that homosexuality is sinful and that trying to be a gender you are not, is harmful?

Why would anyone who trusts the Word of God support and be part of one of their churches?

Additionally, as you consider how Bishop Kuempel reacts to those with whom she disagrees, ask yourself, when reading her tweet below, is this the type of language and behavior you want to see from a leader in your church? Why does the ELCA allow this?

As the Wall Street Journal concluded, "Considering it serves nearly 25 million people every year, that's likely true."

Wow...this Bishop sounds like a "real" piece of work. Unfortunately too much of the $ in the collection plates for this synod are going to pay for this "trash talk" to continue & spewing her biased opinions. She & some of the other bishops are working hard to shrink the ELCA membership on a steady pace.

Why is the vetting process for recommending Bishops choosing those who are the most "vile"? They need to spend some serious thoughtful time in prayer and reread their Bibles to find out what character traits the Bible states for those who would be leaders and teachers in God's churches. They need to go through all their churches and clean them up of the corruption, stink and vile leadership from the very top and all the way down. Close them since we are not really men and women of God and have no intention of repenting, we need to get out of the business and shut the doors. Time to stop pretending we are doing God's Work.
