ELCA Advocates for 'Equality Act'

Among the many problems (see here) with the so called "Equality Act," is that "the Equality Act offers few protections for religious organizations and institutions that hold to traditional views of marriage and oppose things like gender reassignment surgeries." (See here)

The ELCA understands this problem but are fulling endorsing the "Equality Act" anyway.

This phony denomination is so disgusting. Walking in lockstep with this tyrannical administration. Sounds like the next big phony narrative they will push after this phony “equality” bill is “the climate emergency.” All designed to grab more control. Coming to a sermon near you.

the exclusively liberal community association is sounding more and more like the so-called German Church in National Socialist Germany. Where is our Dietrich Bonhoeffer when he is needed?

In fact, those churches and institutions that are bound by the Word of God to the truth of marriage between a man and a woman, and that sex outside of that institution is contrary to the word of Christ and the apostles in the New Testament (1 Cor. 7:2), could be punished for simply standing on our consistent, ancient Christian beliefs. The Equality Act effectively outlaws the words of Christ, the sublime doctrine of Creation, the First Article of the Creed, and our “free exercise of religion” based upon the Bible and Apostles’ Creed. The biblical teaching that marriage is between a man and a woman is to be labeled forever a mere “sex-based stereotype.”

The Equality Act expands the definition of “public accommodation” and puts an ultimatum to individuals, religious non-profits, food banks, schools, charities, adoption agencies and others: “Change your faith-based practices or face government punishment.”

Agree with above poster that people have their own ideas of "what Jesus would do" and then think it is biblical.
For various reasons I spent time in an elca church, having no idea of what higher ups were saying and doing. When I found this website, it was the beginning of the end of that membership.
But I find that most of the folks, especially those Lutheran all their lives, have NO idea of what elca stands for. They don't know what their pastor's insurance pays for, or any of the rest of the blasphemy.
There seemed to be no preaching or teaching against things the Bible is against. No convicting of sin so the people can repent.
Liberal leanings leaving little or no voice for anyone who might think differently. The pastor desired conversations but the atmosphere put conservative types off.
