Matthew 18:6 - "If anyone causes one of these little ones--those who believe in me--to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.”

The ELCA will have to answer to God for their wickedness. They continue to encourage Christians who struggle with same-sex attraction to act on their sinful desires. In 2009 the ELCA essentially declared homosexuality good, that it was not sinful but the way God created some people. At the 2013 churchwide assembly the ELCA passed three more memorials centering on homosexuality.

Also at the 2013 ELCA CW Assembly the newly-elected Presiding Bishop let it be known that she believes the 2009 ELCA homosexuality votes were the right decision (read here) and the man voted to be the Secretary of the ELCA is a vocal advocate for homosexual marriage. (read here)

The illicit-sex-obsessed ELCA can ordain and hire every homosexual it can recruit, but it might want to note that the Supreme Court has ruled unanimously that Bible-honoring churches aren't obligated to kowtow to the world's employment demands.

About the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod's Hosanna-Tabor case, LCMS President Matthew Harrison observed, "“We are delighted with the Opinion issued by the U.S. Supreme Court in the Hosanna-Tabor case . . . The Court, in upholding the right of churches to select their own ministers without government interference, has confirmed a critical religious liberty in our country. The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod places great emphasis on the religious education of its children and the important role of commissioned ministers in promoting our faith, so we are thankful that the Court has confirmed our church’s right to decide who will be serving as ministers in our churches and schools. We also are thankful that this unanimous Opinion will help secure the religious freedom of all religious organizations in America for years to come. Please keep the Justices of the U.S. Supreme Court in your prayers daily.”

Mincing wantonly before the world, ELCA "leaders" keep announcing, "We and all our principles are for sale. Make us an offer."

While the ELCA pressures its churches to "marry" men with men and women with women, confessional Lutherans declare with President Harrison, "Two sources tell us what marriage is. First, the Bible tells us that man and woman were created by God as the perfect match, and that marriage is to be a sacred, lifelong union of one man and one woman. The Bible universally rejects sex outside of this man/woman marriage. Second, we know from so-called natural knowledge, which is part of all human existence, and which has been codified by custom and law through the millennia, that marriage is for one man and one woman. It is God's perfectly designed institution for the creation of new human life and for the nurture of civilized individuals. . . . We are called to repent of our lack of appreciation for marriage and family. We are called to confess Christ to all and call all to repentance. We must elevate marriage among us and educate, educate, educate. Even as we seek specific ways to care for those challenged by same-sex attraction, we must resist conforming to the culture. We know whose we are. We know what is in store for us. We know we will be severely tested in these last days, but this testing will abound in faithfulness and praise (1 Peter 1)."

The ELCA wants to make it illegal to discriminate on the basis of gender IDENTITY--that means men who think they are women and vice versa. If you think that's too crazy to be taken seriously, keep in mind that the state of California has already passed a law requiring all schools to allow gender-confused students to use the bathroom of the opposite sex. (See "Open Bathrooms and California's War on Kids: A Daddy's Perspective," posted at Juicy Ecumenism.)

Lobbying for such foolishness is what your financial contribution to your ELCA synod helps to pay for.

The ELCA claims, in effect, that all the world's inhabitants have a God-given right to American citizenship, though it makes no such claim about citizenship in other countries. So why is America unique? Is it because we're a Christian nation? ELCA churchmen can't answer that question because they know nothing about Christianity. But the Bible says that it is God, not the ELCA, who determines the boundaries and habitation of nations (Acts 17:26).

Did anyone notice that the September issue of "The Lutheran" reported that the ELCA is now considering communicating the unbaptized? It seems to me that that would be making a mockery of a Christian symbol (or sacrament) that is no to be taken lightly. "Whoever eats this bread or drinks this cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup. For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgment to himsalf, not discerning the Lord's body." 1 Corinthians 11:27-29

Good Morning,
I was an ELCA Lutheran for over 60 years, heavily involved in teaching, council member, all church committees, asst. organist, etc. I realized 20 years ago that my soul was not being fed, Bible Study was a joke for no preparation was ever evident, a request that my children receive instruction in pro-life and marriage commitment as well as church wide teaching of the book of Revelation......all were denied. I'm now a Presbyterian PCA, am in awe about what I've learned about Martin Luther, Calvin, arminianism, prayer, the beauty of expository preaching, the caring, loving fellow Christians....The Holy Spirit is leading me.....God is Good!
A point of interest....our children have left the ELCA also. They attend Bible preaching, conservative churches. Praise the Lord.
