The ELCA supports and advocates for abortion (see here), and their bishop's and pastors are overwhelming in support of abortion.

ELCA pastor Elle Dowd, who is a minor celebrity within the ELCA crowd, says, "I love abortion" and "Any reason someone needs - OR WANTS - an abortion is a good reason."

Michael Rinehart, Bishop of the TX-LA Gulf Coast Synod, of the ELCA made numerous abortion related FB posts, including this one that ends with "Enter the Taliban":

God claims (Psalm 139, et al.) foreknowledge of, authorship of, and ownership of the preborn babies created in His image. The ELCA cold-bloodedly promotes and abets their murder. “There is no fear of God before their eyes” . . . but one day, in this life or in eternity, there will be. “Do you presume on the riches of His kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing God’s kindness is meant to lead you to repentance?”

Don't stay in a denomination with blood on its hands, ELCA member. "Then I heard another voice from heaven, saying, 'Come out, my people! Come out from her! You must not take part in her sins. . .'" [Rev. 18:4] Flee the ELCA and join a church that seeks to honor and obey God's Word.

The LCMS is one of the confessional Lutheran refuges from the godless ELCA.

These “pastors” think they are so smart. Imagine them standing before a Holy God at judgement when he asks “what did you do to protect my creation?”

Nadia Bolz-Weber "justifies" the elective abortion of her baby whose death was SO VERY IMPORTANT, you must understand, because that dead baby GAVE HER SPACE TO BECOME WHO SHE IS. God will have the final word on "success" purchased with blood money. Before it's too late, the ELCA needs to know that Bible-flouting heresy and libertine apostasy put their unrepentant advocates and practitioners squarely on the "broad road that leads to destruction": "No one who abides in Him [Jesus] deliberately, knowingly, and habitually practices sin. No one who habitually sins has seen Him or known Him." [1 John 3:6]

All of the above pastors are generally at odds even with the ELCA's own Social Statement on abortion which says:

The position of this church is that, in cases where the life of the mother is threatened, where pregnancy results from rape or incest, or where the embryo or fetus has lethal abnormalities incompatible with life, abortion prior to viability should not be prohibited by law or by lack of public funding of abortions for low income women. On the other hand, this church supports legislation that prohibits abortions that are performed after the fetus is determined to be viable, except when the mother’s life is threatened or when lethal abnormalities indicate the prospective newborn will die very soon.

(It's not that Moses brought that social statement down from the mountain or anything. It is certainly a political document and one than no one bothers either to challenge or enforce.)
