Abortion is evil and barbaric. The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America supports abortion.

The leaked draft from the United States Supreme Court indicates the law on abortion will likely change. States, the people, will get to decide. This change has upset many including ELCA pastors and leaders. Here is a small segment of what they are saying:

I don't look to pastors --- particularly ELCA pastors --- to comment authoritatively on constitutional law, particularly anything OTHER THAN the First Amendment's guarantee of free exercise.

The ELCA's *only* lane is the wide way that leads to destruction [Matt. 7:13]; it is the sole U.S. Lutheran denomination that strays from God's lane by abetting the merciless destruction of the innocent.

All branches of confessional Lutheranism partner with a great organization -- Lutherans for Life -- that supports mothers and their babies. Even a few ELCA pastors and congregations dissent from the ELCA's complicity in butchery and reach out to LFL for life-affirming resources.

The good news: unlike the ELCA, all confessional Lutheran denominations oppose abortion, and they support mothers and babies before and after the babies are born.

Matthew Harrison, LCMS President, writes: “. . .Our conscience is bound by both the Word of God and reason to speak for life as a precious gift of God and to speak against any and all who promote the killing of unborn children. We cannot hide the evil of these laws under the banner of “rights” or “privilege.” Children’s lives are at stake. They cannot speak for themselves. We will speak for them, and we will work to protect their lives.

"And we will continue to work to love and support the women who face difficult choices or suffer from the consequences of abortion. We support young mothers who have chosen life for their children. When abortion devotees' most sacred sacrament -- open season on God's preborn creations -- faces even the slightest curtailment (sans Roe, the states would regain their constitutional prerogatives to regulate abortion), the disciples of Moloch respond with paroxysms of rage and torrents of hackneyed euphemisms for murder.

Three authoritative sources overrule the soulless, godless sophistry of these ELCA hirelings:

1. The Bible. Take but one of many examples:
[ . . .] "Psalm 139, then, is picking up on a known thread of imagery when it compares the formation of an infant in the womb to his being “woven” like a tent curtain. In the womb, the Lord weaves the tent that the infant will “wear” until he puts it off at death. With its allusions to the roqem work of the tabernacle, the Psalm goes further, implying not only that God has made the infant in the womb, but also that the infant is being woven into a dwelling for God. Abortion attacks not only a creature of God but a house of God. The abortionist’s instruments pierce through the unfinished roqem curtains and tread on holy ground. We are talking here not only about slaughter of the innocent but about sacrilege, a direct attack on “space” claimed by God. That is the most serious offense possible. Paul’s warning hovers ominously over our nation: “If any man destroys the temple of God, God will destroy him, for the temple of God is holy.”

2. Science and ethics. Many atheists and secularists recognize scientific and ethical truths about preborn babies that the pagan religionists of the ELCA are too blind to see.

1. The human zygote, embryo, and fetus are all human organisms; they are early developmental stages of a human’s life cycle.

3. The U. S. Constitution. Roe v. Wade has been derided for decades by preeminent pro-choice legal scholars. Among them:
** Ruth Bader Ginsburg said Roe is "heavy-handed judicial activism.”
** Harvard Law School professor Laurence Tribe wrote: "Behind its own verbal smokescreen, the substantive judgment on which it rests is nowhere to be found.”
** Former Harry Blackmun clerk Edward Lazarus wrote: "Even most liberal jurisprudes will tell you it is basically indefensible.”
** John Hart Ely, one of the most frequently cited legal scholars in U.S. history, wrote in "The Wages of Crying Wolf: A Comment on Roe v. Biblically, scientifically, ethically, and constitutionally, the ELCA is willfully blind to the greatest moral stain on this nation's collective conscience. But then, such vileness is to be expected from a denomination whose employee health plan pays for any-reason abortion and whose real motto is "Moloch's work. Our hands."

Exactly. Abortion is a blood sacrifice to "the god of this world."

Lutheran pastor Dietrich Bonhoeffer obliterated the shallow shibboleths glibly parroted by abortion-embracing ELCA clergy: “Destruction in the mother’s womb is a violation of the right to live which God has bestowed upon this nascent life. To raise the question whether we are here concerned already with a human being or not is merely to confuse the issue. The simple fact is that God certainly intended to create a human being and that this nascent human being has been deliberately deprived of his life. And that is nothing but murder.”

We are glad we have left the ELCA & quit contributing to their causes.. The majority of the people still in the pews have no idea of how far down the path their leaders have or will take them. Who needs God when these angry pastors feel they are god!

It's axiomatic that a denomination which has created its own "Jesus" and "gospel" and has uncritically adopted every transitory tenet of the world's morality will also employ the world's evasive, sophistical excuses to justify murder in utero. To wit:

And the ELCA's most dishonest dodge: sedulously ignoring what the Bible has to say about God's unambiguous authorship and ownership of preborn babies.

Matt Walsh has written an eloquent, reasoned, biblical defense of life. Unlike the ELCA, Walsh examines what the Bible has to say about the sacredness of God-created lives. Part of his article follows:

I don’t know how many pastors read this blog. But if you are an ELCA pastor and you and your congregation don’t buy into this garbage, but you remain silent. You are every bit as guilty by not speaking out and not leaving this denomination. You are accomplices in this evil.
