(The following article was written by Rev. Tom Brock of pastorsstudy.org. You can follow Pastor Brock on Facebook - here and Twitter - here.) The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America last week had 31,000 teenagers gather for its teen assembly. One of the speakers was an ELCA pastor’s wife who told the teens that her child, who is biologically a boy, “deeply knows herself to be a girl”. The mother said “she wasn’t a boy, we just didn’t know that yet.” Her congregation held a renaming ceremony at her son’s tenth anniversary of baptism, and they renamed him “Rebekah”. This “girl” is now an “out and proud” transgender person and an activist for transgender and non-binary people…all at age 11. Then Rebekah came out on the stage to speak to the teens: “Transgender is being who God made me to be…God does not make mistakes…Its difficult to be in a world that is trying to make you… be someone else. My mission is to make things better for transgender kids, to speak hope. I may only be 11 years old, but I talk to legislators to make better laws for kids like me…Transgender kids are just like other kids…By being who God has called me to be, hearts and minds are changed, I can change the world…I hope that the Church is a place where everyone can bravely be themselves in all their uniqueness…Paint a giant rainbow flag out front (of your church)." This is tragic beyond belief. No, ELCA, God does not create little boys to be little girls. Studies show that if one leaves children with gender dysphoria alone, most of them grow out of it. But instead of that, the ELCA and this pastor’s wife are affirming this child in the wrong sex, and are publicly celebrating and advocating for it. What if in a few years the child changes his mind and wants to identify with his biological sex? It happens often, but I doubt it will in this case since his parents and denomination are praising him for being an “activist.” One can only think of Jesus’ words in Mark 9:42 “Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him if a great millstone were hung around his neck and he were thrown into the sea.” I believe the ELCA has a millstone around its neck. Not only were the speeches tragic, but it was tragic how often the speeches were interrupted by loud cheering by the teenagers. It appears the ELCA has succeeded in getting teenagers to applaud the LGBT agenda. You can watch it all in the video below. May God have mercy. In Jesus our Savior, Pastor Tom Brock

The motto actually practiced by the ELCA is all too familiar both to the 1 million-plus confessional Lutherans who have fled the denomination and the defrauded remnant who still remain: "If the world likes it, you can count on our denominational endorsement of it."

This 11 year old boy will soon be a 16 year old boy. His parents and the ELCA will demand that he use the girls locker rooms and showers.

This Jamie person clearly is a narcissistic mother who craves attention. She's created this boy/girl in order to get attention, nothing more. This whole performance is just that -- a performance. This child is eating up the attention he is getting from being this way. This is child abuse of the worst kind. Watch as this child grows to adulthood. My prediction -- bad things will come of this.

To borrow a quote from Ruth Graham: If God doesn't bring judgment upon the ELCA, He'll have to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah!

This is the most disturbing thing I've ever seen. The gradual compromise has hit a new level of decay.

Were there any sessions or training at the "ELCA big show" that discussed that old fashioned & obsolete book called the Bible? How much different is our ELCA leadership from the bad popes in the Roman Catholic church when Luther pushed for change 500 years ago? If you have conservative values, you are no longer really welcome but please continue to give us your $$.

We've finally had enough of this apostate denomination and are going to start attending an NALC church. It's sad because our current church is comprised of good people but they are either ignoring what's going on at the denominational level or are too tired to care. Very sad.

This beautiful yet tragic young person has clearly been coached to produce a polished message. Shame on her mother who is obviously deluded by the fame she is receiving through her child. Lord have mercy!

So sad. Shame on her parents. I pray this family comes to repent, and see the truth behind this great satanic deception.

'Hope and change' this sure sounds familiar, oh that's right this was President Obama's theme. Thank You Lord for never changing. Your word is the same today as it was yesterday, no matter what man attempts to alter!!!

It's amazing to see that a "pastor" of lutheran denomination would let his wife lead the charge to defile their faith and the Bible in the face of GOD. GOD created man and from man woman. GOD makes NO MISTAKES when assigning a male and female their chromosomes. To approve to "gender identity" as a factual thing instead of what it truly is ... a mental disorder known as multiple-personality disorder, is simply disgusting. This is all NOTHING more than a publicity stunt at the cost of an innocent misguided child. It is CHILD ABUSE in every way.
