Once prominent pastor in the ELCA, Clint Schnekloth, has now declared himself to be Democratic Socialist. This comes in a time of making continual financial requests for his ELCA church and increasingly leftists, woke statements and actions.

Tell us something we don't know. Virtually *every* ELCA pastor and bishop is a member of the Church of the World-Pleasing Squishes, and their public messaging is 51% sin promotion and 49% Democrat Party-approved political posturing.

Adam Clarke, 19th century British theologian and biblical scholar, knew this kind of clerical counterfeit:
“This is a striking feature of the city of London in the present day. The itch for news, which generally argues a worldly, shallow, or unsettled mind, is wonderfully prevalent: even ministers of the Gospel, negligent of their sacred function, are become in this sense Athenians [cf. Acts 17]; so that the book of God is neither read nor studied with half the avidity and spirit as a newspaper…It is no wonder if such become political preachers, and their sermons be no better than husks for swine. To such the hungry sheep look up, and are not fed.”

And an entire denomination that continues to prize the world's praise while blithely spurning God's praise is no church at all:

"The church that teaches conformity with the world isn’t just wrong, it’s wrong in a very weird way, one that rejects some of the most obvious truths about who God is. Christianity isn’t meant to look like the world looks, believe what the world believes, or act as the world acts. He’s a God of love, so we must love; He’s also a God of truth, so we must live in His truth. That’s *His* truth, though. Not the world’s. We shouldn’t expect to look like the world. The church that doesn’t look different is no church at all."

I have an easy rebuttal to people who call Jesus a socialist. Socialism involves wealth redistribution by the government. But that is not what Jesus preached. Jesus instead said “Render unto Caesar what is Caesar’s and unto God what is God’s.”

But we know that ALL things belong to God. That means that even though we are to pay our taxes and render unto Caesar (or Joe Biden), all things are spiritually rendered unto God. We do not declare the government to be the owners of our income. We must acknowlede God as the provider and owner of our money. We are mere stewards.

We are not supposed to redistribute wealth/income centrally through a goverment. Instead we are to offer it up to God. God then, in turn, tells us how He plans to direct the money. He has not appointed the government to be the stewards of His money. He has appoint US, the individual.

The Lord asks us to obey our masters and respect the laws of the land, which includes paying taxes. He permits the rise of government and empires who without Him, would have no power.

Jesus advocated offering up all our possessions and wealth to God directly. Not to a government. We verbally, in prayer, offer our wealth to God and He in turn tells us how to use that money. Could He, in theory, ask us to stop paying taxes? Absolutely! But has He done so yet? Not to me personally and not in scripture. There might be someone out there who received private revelation amd was told to just tithe and stop paying taxes.

Jesus would never have created the welfare system. There is a long history of churches, soup kitchens, and food pantries feeding our poor. And until recent history, nobody needed an EBT card to feed their family. Food distribution can entirely be handled by non-profits if we all work together and donate. Churches also used to simply take up a collection to help the homeless pay a down payment on apartments.

The bible also says basically that if you are able-bodied and dont work, you dont eat. Somewhere in Proverbs…
