Amy Current is the newly elected Bishop of the Southeastern Iowa Synod. She is an LGBTQ ally. On her social media she writes, "I believe love is love. I believe that God desires us to be fully ourselves. I have so much more to learn in order to be a better ally. Thank you for those who keep teaching me."

I always wonder why liberal “ministers” even bother pretending to be Christian. They don’t believe in sin so they don’t need God. They doubt the validity of the Bible so I guess they don’t need scripture. They don’t care that hardly anyone under the age of 50 attends church anymore, so why have a building? They have watered down or removed most of the beautiful liturgy that German Lutherans brought here, so why bother even having a service?

This ELCA bishop is --as every ELCA bishop is -- manifestly not an ally of all those whom Jesus wants to save and will save if they follow His admonition: "Repent and believe the gospel." An ally is someone who wants the best for you and who's therefore willing to tell you hard truths -- i.e., God's unvarnished truths straight from His Word -- when you're headed for the precipice. An ally doesn't sell you out for the sake of getting the world's indulgent pats on the head.
