Female Christ Picture Posted by ELCA Seminary Website

Lutheran School of Theology in Chicago (LSTC), a school of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, published an article on one of their websites that was written by Katherine Parent, a PhD student at the school. The article contained a picture of a female Jesus on the cross.

The fact that this ELCA seminary posted this blasphemous depiction of our Lord and Savior tells you a lot about the school, which is entrusted to train up pastors for the church.

Since the ELCA has never met the real Jesus, of course they're going to make graven images of their imaginary "Jesus." Baalites, meet the ELCAnites.

And the real motto of a pretend church that blasphemes the Lord while giving false assurances of salvation to unbelievers and willfully impenitent sinners continues to be "Satan's work. Our hands."

Once orthodoxy is breached on these issues, the process won’t stop there. It will lead to sharper denials of the apostolic faith. The revolution will eat its own children. John 18:36 (Jesus before Pilate): Jesus said, “My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jewish leaders. But now my kingdom is from another place.”

It was not "the powers of this world" that would not allow Jesus suffering to pass. It was the love of God for the world he created that would not allow that suffering to pass. He not only created the world by his love but he also redeemed it through his love. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16 ESV)

"The powers of this world" had gone and continue to go their own way. Neither God the Father nor God the Son would stop them. God wants the love of the creature who bears his image in return. Love not freely given is not love at all. He respects us so much that he won't deny us our choice to go our own way. And, that way is the way of "the world."

"And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil." (John 3:19 ESV)

"The powers of this world" weren't concerned with honest judgment or with mercy. Jesus' "trial" and conviction were travesties of both Jewish law and Roman justice, as even Pilate, himself determined. Neither the Jewish nor the Roman authorities cared anything about mercy; it was all about power-- worldly power. If their power could have been furthered by throwing Jesus a crumb of mercy, they would have done it in a heartbeat. (Pilate even tried to do so.)

But, "...judgment is without mercy to one who has shown no mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment." (James 2:13 ESV)

It was God, the Father, who alone was concerned with both just judgment and with mercy, and that need for both was something that could only be realized through the obedience of the Son.

The above seminarian places too much on the powers of this world. Rather, we should focus on the one who said "...in the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33 ESV)

A PhD student in any Christian seminary should know that it was not the powers of a world gone its own way who were calling the shots on Jesus' fate; it was the love of the Father and the obedience of the Son.

The powers of this world only serve to beckon us away from that love and that singular example of obedience.

Her article, itself, full of judgment, isn't worthy of serious comment, but there is one rather striking statement in it. It is:

"I see Christ’s suffering reflected in... all survivors of sexual violence—both those who choose to speak out and those who want or need to remain silent. But I do not see salvation in those moments."

It is certainly the case that one doesn't have to look very far to find rampant suffering all around. But, does she really expect to see salvation anywhere but at Calvary?

Once again, the words of Jesus:

"I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
