The ELCA Vault - Room Four
The ELCA Vault is a collection of articles, blogs, and documents related to issues with the ELCA. The purpose of the Vault is to provide this important information to you and at the same time not overload other sections of the website so as they become too convoluted.
The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America lies in utter disarray. With a budget nearly half that of twenty years ago, and hundreds of it’s largest churches fleeing for Christian Freedom, some Bishops and Synods have seen their membership drop by half or more. . .
. . .Sadly, the “E” in ELCA stands for “Evangelical.” If you know anybody caught up in an ELCA Lutheran Church, please pray for them and bring them our testimony in sincerity. . .
(by Don Kriefall) . . .ELCA congregations that have discovered that the leadership of the ELCA is engaged in an effort to minimize or eliminate classic Lutheran teaching, have found that their path to engage in prayerful discernment is being obstructed by their synod bishops, and in some cases, other ELCA pastors that are sympathetic to the ELCA’s direction. . .
. . .After all, there are consequences for putting the Lord your God to the test, placing His Holy Word up for a vote and pretending to serve God and others when serving one's self. . .
. . .Many are seeing that a satanic, apostate darkness has fallen upon the Lutheran denomination as continued liberal progressive motivations modify what scripture has rightly taught for thousands of years. . .
(by Robert Benne) . . . They planned a structure that insured that theologians and bishops, who were then almost exclusively white males, would have little real theological authority in the church, that evangelism would be a second- or third-order concern, that a quota-driven national assembly that was 60 percent laypeople would vote on church doctrine, that there would be no opportunity for synods and congregations to rescind those votes, and that a liberal central bureaucracy would have its own way over time. . .
. . .I differ in theological opinion concerning the ELCA's allowance , and endorsement by some bishops, in praying to God by addressing his Trinitarian person as "Mother, Sister, and Friend. . ."
(by Don Kriefall) . . .Since the ELCA began promoting love of the secular world, concentrating on social justice instead of the Gospel of Christ, over 1 million have fled this misguided denomination to join churches that place our Lord first in their ministries. . .
. . . ELCA is an agenda driven organization where every special interest group seeks to have its voice heard. . .
. . . The Lutheran Magazine, the ELCA’s official publication in an April 2008 feature article on Easter, questioned the deity of Jesus Christ and cast doubt upon the Resurrection. . .
. . .The leaders of the ELCA have determined that it is inappropriate for those appointed as missionaries to proselytize. In other words, they are not to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the nations where they serve the Lord. . .
One of the pastors at Grace Lutheran Church believes other area clergy are trying to influence members of his Eau Claire congregation in an attempt to keep them from leaving the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. . .
. . .The loss of members has gone on for so many years that members have come to expect it and even accept it. . .
. . .We must continue to pray for our brothers and sisters held hostage by the false teachings of the ELCA. . .
It annoys me to no end, church leaders occasionally given to touting political influence within the circles of government. Hubristic self-service is a phrase that comes uncharitably to mind. . .
". . .There was a lot of talk of "community," "unity," "inclusion," "advocacy," but I didn't hear much about repentance, one's personal relationship with Jesus Christ, or a need to proclaim the Good News of the death and resurrection of our Lord for the forgiveness of our sins. . ."
. . .So, in effect the leadership of the ELCA has decided to ally themselves with the things of this world and become an enemy of God. There is much more at stake than mere heresy within a church body. . .
. . .Two Aberdeen police officers were called to a meeting Thursday night at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, which is considering leaving the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. . .
. . .One of the congregations that has left the ELCA in the Sierra Pacific is Life Lutheran Church, Richmond, CA, one of two Chinese ministries in the synod (the other one left as well). Some years ago they had been given the property of a closed congregation (closed, actually, if I recall correctly, by the present pastor of Herchurch). Now the synod's attorneys are telling them that they must vacate the property and turn it back to the synod. . .
. . .They welcome heretical teachings and proclaim them as a new and diverse opinion appropriate to their doctrine of open dialogue. . .
. . .That their directory links to any of these organizations at all might raise the eyebrows of a few individuals, but what should be shocking to all people is the blatant political imbalance and ideological bias of the listed groups. . .
George Erdner lists 29 cities in which there was a new LCMC and/or NALC start-up in the wake of a failed vote to leave the ELCA, and 2 cities in which there was a new ELCA start-up in the wake of a successful vote to withdraw from the ELCA. . .
. . .Local leaders studied scripture and determined that it did not agree with the ELCA’s resolution, Palmer said. Peace Lutheran believes in the authority of scripture and that all individuals are sinners who are saved by repenting and God’s grace, he said. . .
Walk the Walk - Don Kriefall
. . .Each and every verse of Scripture is written for our benefit. In these troubling times we need to rely on what our God has put to writing, rather than what the enlightened leaders of the ELCA and other misguided churches would want us to believe. . .
Just how many churches of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) await the fate of Grace Lutheran Church, North Branch, NY?. .
