ELCA Seminary Explores 'the role of trans joy, embodiment, and resistance in Christian life'4/28/2025

An ELCA article from 2014 gave us these statistics:
"The ELCA is still some 9,500 congregations with 3.95 million members. In the most recent year for which statistics are available (2012), we had 7,472 more baptisms than deaths, hopefully deflating comments about a dying church. Regular giving by members totaled nearly $1.8 billion while total receipts reached $2.45 billion. The total value of congregational properties and assets was $19.7 billion, with total indebtedness of $1.8 billion, or a respectable and very manageable 9.1 percent. And 64.18 percent of our congregations had no debt at all." (See here) The ELCA currently is stating they have "2.8 million members in more than 8,500 worshiping communities..." (See https://www.elca.org/news-and-events/pastoral-message-on-the-death-of-pope-francis) I would like to point out the how much money the ELCA brings in per year and the value of their properties and assets. (The following article was written by Rev. Tom Brock of pastorsstudy.org. You can follow Pastor Brock on Facebook - here and X - here.) I graduated from Luther Seminary in St.Paul, Minnesota, of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America way back in 1979. It was moderate to liberal back then, today it is radical with transgender preachers, prayers to God the Mother, a pagan smudging ceremony in chapel, observing National Coming Out Day and Transgender Day of Visibility in chapel, etc., etc.
As you can see from the below, due to dwindling finances and attendance, half of my seminary is now gone. Someone told me recently that one of my old more moderate professors from Luther is not happy with what has happened to the seminary. But the same professor many years ago spoke to a packed house to give his view on homosexuality. By the end of the hour no one had a clue where he really stood He was part of the problem since he refused to take a stand, and now the seminary is reaping what it has sown. When I was still in the ELCA. I remember inquiring of Luther’s then president about the possibility of getting an intern from Luther. I was told that, because my church did not believe in women pastors, Luther would refuse to give us anyone as an intern. Luther loves to say that it is into diversity and inclusivity, well, it is not. If Luther Seminary does not repent, and I see no sign of that, it will probably be a good day for the Church when it is totally gone. In our risen Savior, Pastor Tom Brock (The following article was written by Rev. Tom Brock of pastorsstudy.org. You can follow Pastor Brock on Facebook - here and Twitter - here.) Today is the Transgender Day of Visibility and Elizabeth Eaton, head bishop of the liberal Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, is once again taking a stand for transgenderism. Should the Church show Christ’s love to all people, regardless of their sin or confusion? Definitely. Should the Church use offering dollars to pay for hormone blockers to keep children from developing their God-given sexuality? Of course not. But the ELCA does this. The ELCA also pays for sex change operations for adults in its healthcare plan. Your offering dollars at work. In her below message, Eaton says “anti-trans legislation demonizes” transgender persons. No it doesn’t, it aims at protecting children from sexual mutilation. But Eaton says nothing of this. And notice below, Eaton can’t bring herself to refer to people as “brothers and sisters in Christ“ anymore, that is too binary. It’s all “siblings in Christ“. This ELCA has gone so very far astray, if you are still a member, I hope you to take your money, time, and talents and join a more biblical denomination. Sincerely in Christ, Pastor Tom Brock

Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, is a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. I reported on this back in January. Their church sign is on a busy highway and states “God is proud of all Their children” (in gay rainbow colors). The sign is still up after six months.
God, of course, is called “He” in the Bible. When God in Genesis 1:26 says “Let Us make man in Our image”, this has various interpretations. Perhaps it is a reference to the Trinity or to God and His angels, but to suggest it has anything to do with transgenderism and to project that on to God is simply evil. I can’t help but wonder if virtue signaling is also going on, and this congregation is telling passers-by how enlightened and compassionate they think they are. But it is never compassionate to condone impenitent sin (I Corinthians 6:9-11). The church is a few minutes from my house and the tragedy is that years ago it had a godly, Bible-preaching pastor. But he is gone, the church stayed in the liberal ELCA, and the current pastor and church staff all list their preferred pronouns on the church website. Would that this church would respect God’s preferred pronoun. In Him, Pastor Tom Brock |
